HAVE YOU HEARD OF John LEVER
the biggest cheat Cricket has ever produced
He polished the ball with vasiline all the while through out an an Indian Summer and claimed many wickets
Just read what an Umpire in the match had to say after years
Speaking of umpires and controversies, Judah Reuben, a former Indian umpire, recalls his moment in the spotlight, during the John Lever-Vaseline controversy in Madras in 1976-77. Reuben firmly beleives that Darrell Hair's actions were justified. Clayton Murzello of the Mid-Day caught up with him at his Pune home.

“I walked up to England captain Tony Greig and he argued that Lever used Vaseline to ward off perspiration. I said, ‘skip, he can wipe away the sweat after every ball.’
and all other ball tamperes too (http://blogs.cricinfo.com/surfer/archives/2006/08/some_vaseline_f.php)
Now the jelly beans
Again I say that sledgin is nothing compared to cheating

I have been reading the answers to the question at http://www.frihost.com/forums/vt-66858.html
I wonder what you hate them for
An SA counry man hates some Aussie
Other hate Indians and pakis
most hate them for their behaviour on field
I was truly amazed that some Aussies in this thread hated their own cricketers
Actually I would say that I hate crickets not for sledging but for something far worse
Like cheating on the field
The thing is sledging is not cheating and cheating is bad
Some cheats are
Steve Waugh
one of the first instances I remember way back in 1986 in a Benson and Hedges Series ina match against India
Waugh claimed a catch which he pick up first bounce
back then TV was new and super slow was new and most cricketers did not knwo how much the super slow could reveal so Waugh though he could get away with
In fact I rememeber several other occasions when many players claimed catches when they had not taken it
Nowadays they dont because You knoo why!
Australian Test cricketer Michael Slater said today that Australian media criticism of his on-field clash with Indian batsman Rahul Dravid in last week’s first Test in Mumbai had been a complete overreaction.

Slater was cautioned by West Indian match referee Cammie Smith for arguing with umpire Srinivas Venkatraghavan and Dravid after Slater claimed a catch.

“It just looks so much worse on the TV than it actually was and they chose to play it and play it and play it and just ham the whole thing up,” Slater told a Sydney radio station.

“If I’d have been out of hand and what I’d actually said was the wrong thing I would have been reported.

“But that doesn’t seem to be enough for the journos, and the analysis and whatever that has been going on has been totally blown out (of proportion).” ( From http://www.tribuneindia.com/2001/20010307/sports.htm)

Steve Waugh is one of the fairest and hardest players ever...dont call him a cheat, lots of players claim a catch on a half volley, even now a days with lots of TV Scrutiny, sometimes you cant even tell yourself if its a catch or not, that does not make you a cheat
Fake
1 thing I know about cricket because I play the game, and that is nicks. Everytime I have nicked the ball, or the ball has touched my bat and gone elsewhere, the tiniest tiniest of nicks, is known to the batsman. When it touches your bat, u know it does. But it is an acceptable behaviour in cricket to stand your ground(barring Gilly and a few others who walk)

But you don't call those players cheaters do you? To me, that is cheating. But to thousands of fans, players and officials, it is acceptable. Say what you want, but if you've played the game, u KNOW when u nick a ball. If you wait for the umpire to make a decision, then you are trying to CHEAT. I dont see players walking these days, so do you call them a cheat?
