what would you do? Create 'friends'? Play solitare? Try to kill yourself? The Christian belief is that God created the universe and people to love him. Would you have done the same? </hypothetical question>
EDIT: I am NOT refering to our current situation and if u were to take over. I am asking if you were God just sitting there, existing, with nothing around (no universe, no Earth). What would you do? The example being that the Christian God decided to create a universe and people to love him.

When would be God, i would destroy (read: kill) all the evil rulers of nations so that only peace would be on earth. Even all the wabbeling of the rising temperatures on earth, i would try to lower this. Only that would be done if everyone will try to do something that this never would happen.
For all the rest i will that every person on earth would bow for my power like the God in the Bible.
I would:
Help out the people in need
Destroy the devil and all demons (god should've done that TBH instead of locking satan up in hell and letting the demons roam loose)
get rid of all diseases
and when I got bored with it all, send a giant asteroid to destroy the earth
My question wasn't if you were God at this point in time, but rather before the universe. If you were God just existing with nothing around, what would you do? The example being that the Christian God created a universe with people to love him.
When you put it as "God created a universe and people to love Him" it makes God sound so egotistical. Hrm, that's interesting ...
Other than that, I'd probably have to create SOME sort of life form. I mean, c'mon, how fun would it be to control everything? And, I love playing The Sims, so I figure it's just like that, but on a larger scale. Muahaha!
Of course the SIMS (and similar) are an analogy to the universe - that's the secret of life, the reason for living is just that.
If you are a god U don't need anything! But of course every one likes to be loved.
I am God. Or more accurately, God is me. And God is you, too...
I would wipe out humanity and make a perfect species with an infinite life span and then become an individual of that species, after creating a God Algorithm to regulate the universe (making sure the habitat of the species remains in perfect condition infinitely) and a secondary algorithm to use in-case I needed GodPowers for some reason.
To specify "perfect" most mortals deem perfect as "infinite knowledge"+"infinite unhappiness." This is not at all a correct view of "Perfection". Perfection is having the most perfect contentment infinite happiness and bliss with a {if sine>-.0000000000000001} fluctuation of ambient atmospheria etc. etc.

if i am GOD i would never let SIN enter into my CREATURES
I would create life, mix in, enjoy it, and die like all. The beaty about life is that it's finite.
I would create a self sustaining creation that would exist forever without need of maintenance and something that would support the possibility of self-awareness amongst its counterparts or itself and something that would keep growing. I still think even as a supreme being that you would want to procreate in some shape or form whether it be birthing a cosmos or otherwise. So hypothetically if you were a supreme being you would certainly want some company if you were all alone, someone that could learn to understand you, a friend....wouldn't a supreme being get lonely too?
If I were God, I'd go shoot myself. It's gotta be f'ing boring and lonely up at the top.
Then again, maybe I'd be evil and just create some play things in the form of human beings, put them in paradise, then take it all away and make them labor for the rest of their lives. Oh, that snake? Yeah, totally my creation there too. Snakes > you all.

Peace be upon you.
Alot of people are saying that if they were the christian God, they would do things to keep them from being bored or do similar human activities, but this is a misunderstanding of what the question is truly asking.
The people who say they would be bored, have only adopted God's attributes, e.g. all-knowing, all-powerful, they have not adopted being God himself who is transcendent and not human and therefore someone who would not be bored.
Thus, if you were God, you wouldn't be bored and thus resort to playing solitaire forever.
What do you think?
PEACE.
If I were the God of the universe with unlimited power, I would probably create every conceivable version of life possible (and considering I'd have a God's perception, I could conceive a lot). Then, because I would exist out of time (as time is merely an invention) I would just watch every conceivable way of it all beginning and ending. I wouldn't really interfere at that point. I don't think it would be for me to control who was "right" or "wrong" in any of the trillions+ planets with life.
Let them do their thing. If they mess it up, that's their issue. I gave them a shot. Like George Burns as god said, "It can work". Just give it to them like a puzzle and see if they figure it out. Maybe throw them a bone every now and then (ie. Newton and the apple).
Then eventually I'd try to expand myself beyond this universe and into something grander. I believe it is not possible for anything to percieve everything, god or no.
Create. Maybe because of boredom, maybe because of my personality - I would create and watch how it takes it own steps.
Also, I would hide myself from intelligent beings to not give proofs for the idea there could be some bigger force which controls or can control these beings. I would try to let these beings exist and act as freely as possible.
