Importing email adresses to microsfot outlook, via excel lis

I have several databases in Excel 2000 with Names and E-mail addresses that i want to transfer to Outlook into my Contacts. When I go over to Outlook and select Import -> Microsoft Excel, and then select the file I wish to import, it gives me this message -

"An error has occured in the Microsoft Excel Translator while getting the contents of a file system. The Microsodt Excel file example.xls has no named ranges use Microsoft Excel to name the range of data you want to import"

how can I solve this?

It's been a while since I've had to do that... are there column headings in the spreadsheet?

I only had to name the region of the list, and then import... It was easy at the end.... thanks anyway
