In 100 years we will most likely be dead.

So... what?

They may make healthcare advances to enable us to live longer, until 2100. Wouldn't that be fun?
Jakob [JaWGames]
It would probably not be so fun to live anymore when you are over 100 years old and an aching backbone, loads of diseases and yellow teeth, even if you have a healthy heart.

it`s hard to live one life which longs 100 years. For me, it would be too hard to live 150 or 200 years.

I'd have to agree. It's not about how long you live; but about the quality of your life. Sure it's nice to grow old and have a long life, but not when your age has made you completely helpless.

I don't see how this post relates to philosophy OR religion...

Hm many times the rael-'religion' has been discussed in this forum and one of the ideas there is that they can prolong life for much longer than 200 years. And with good youthful health!

You can also read that they can create a fully functional body (soul-free) under a day - just to please you sexually... or so... In one of the rael-printings I have read the funder went to their planet and he could choose exactly how his playmates for that night would look like. If I remember correct he took 3 - a blond a brunette n a redhead... And it was his best night of sex ever... (hm he should have taken a colored woman also - don't you think? Smile )

The inflatable plastic woman will be obsolete in the future!!! (OR MAN)....

People say "life is too short"... I HIGHLY disagree.
LIFE IS THE LONGEST F****ING THING YOU WILL EVER EXPERIENCE IN LIFE!

'Nuff said. Confused

Actually, the longest thing you will experience is Heaven or Hell. Eternity.

Everyone experiences life. That's quite proven. There's no proof of heaven nor hell, so you can't declare that. Therefore life is the longest until one can prove heaven and hell (which is pretty much impossible).

Aliens and cloning... Smile Would you want a healthier body to enable you to live longer? Not forever - just longer...Say you were going to live to be 65 because of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and COPD. If you opted for the cloned body, aged and modified to totally resemble who you are now, but minus the health problems. Would you do it? What if it meant rebuilding all of the immunities that you had built up in your "other" body, all over again in your "new" body? Shocked That means getting sick with all the childhood "stuff" again, totally rebuilding ALL of your immunities (and some new ones) to things that you have already been sick with and recovered from. Would you do it?

Another thought... Vampires live "forever". A lot of the movies I have ever seen with vampires in them show the vampire stuck in a limbo and wishing that they could be human again... The vampires do not want to die because of the societal/religious boundary of thought about going to hell after their "death" because of the evil that they had become. Stuck in limbo, afraid to die, but sick of "eternal life"....
Being a vampire would suck! (I made a funny... Very Happy I can actually make "jokes" with words on the computer and on paper! Just not while speaking.)

I do not believe in hell. I do believe in reincarnation. I think, though, that if we could remember all of our past lives it would be to much to handle.
Actual immortality? Sometimes it is almost to much to endure some of the things we go through in our present life! On the other hand, I wouldn't really want to think that this is all there is ever going to be either. That makes me shiver! To think of living for all eternity is one thing (in whatever form a person chooses to think of it), but thinking that, after having been a conscious entity, there is nothing more after this... The absolute absence of "self".... Total nothingness. That would be worse than living forever or knowing that the spirit goes on forever.

At least with the theory of re-incarnation most of the time we do not remember that our spirit continues after the body dies... We get to "enjoy" each life we are in.
Coclus
Yeah that would be fun and It could happen but it would probably make our plane even more over populated..
Soulfire
Until the world is more equal and educated on birth control, we don't need too many people living over 100. Besides, it's been mentioned before, it is not the quantity of those years, but the quality of those years.

When I was youngher I was thinking that the life was too short. Now I am 20 years and I have began to get tired of life. Life is probably too long.

Thats not a very good outlook on life. You are only 20, there is so much more to come in life for you. Granted, I'm a little younger than you but I still have a lot to look forward too.
I guess the way you see the length of life depends on your optimism. Personally I think that life is just about the right length. Living much longer would get boring.
HalfBloodPrince
Well, I live a life believing that there's something 'more' out there (heaven) and I think that I'm a good person, so I welcome death. And I'm a lot younger than most people here.
crimson_aria
100 is short, if you think about history. but as for living, 100 is enough (or too much), in my opinion. i don't think i'd enjoy that age. hehe.

I actually had a physics professor who firmly believed that the human race will eliminate itself within the next 50 years. Then again, he doesn't own a TV because he calculated the number of hours he spends in his life watching it, and decided that it wasn't worth it.

I reckon if u are smart, then u shud know that we are not just living for ourselves, but fo rthe generations that come after us. Save the planet. No one is goign to the moon or mars!

hmmm.. a lot of debate. But I agree, in 100 years we will most likely be dead. Life is long, but sometimes it may seem to be too short. In the grand scheme, our lives are shorter than a grain of sand. Thing is, the grand scheme only slightly involves us. We may do something to inspire a person to go to college to learn something to tell to their grandchild who lives their life to find out more on it and meets someone and together they create a child and that child becomes a nobel peace prize winner and the runner-up to that prize feels they have more to accomplish so they start study on something potentially earth-shaking. We are all involved. But our life means much more to us than it does the runner up to the nobel prize. oh no..ive lost my marbles.

I think the thread title says it all really. Laughing

We will be dead in 100 years - unless some braniac can develop a fountain of youth potion that lets you live forever. Shocked Laughing Laughing
