Hi. I recently purchased this guitar:

and I was wondering if I can tune or configurate the guitar to sound more... well I don't know how to explain it. I want the guitar to sound more like the guitars in a few of these videos. My guitar sounds regular and has no tone or whatever it is called.

Right, the sound you're going for is essentially metal.

What you need to do is go out and buy yourself a distortion effect pedal. If you have some money floating around then I would reccomend going for a multi-effect pedal instead as this will give you other effects as well as distortion such as reverb which is used in the first youtube link you've posted.

Going for a dedicated distortion pedal would guarantee you the metal drive sound you've looking for however so that would be the safe bet.

With your gear you only need a miracle...

You can try a distortion pedal like the MT-2, but with that guitar you will have problems with hi-gain sounds...

also the fact that the boss gain pedals suck ass is a factor to count in. Try out some different dist pedals in the shop when you buy. boss gain stuff is dry and horrific sounding. ive heard better noises come from my arse. Also reverb wise most good amps will have some sort of built in reverb if they are fairly modern. also your amp will more than likely have a clean and a distroted channel switchable by a simple latching footswitch. set you clean channel to low gain and your wet channel to high gain depending on how distorted you want. if your amp doesnt have a clean and a gain channel its probably pretty crap and you may be better off buying something better. also multi fx are great if your a beginner. the pods are amazing although all these try to model what original single pedals or amps do and hence sound nothing on the originals. basically if you want a nice tone then you have to be prepared to spend the money on good gear. multi fx work well to fill in tonal variation when you cannot afford the single stomps or nice amps but nothing will replace said amps. basically you really do get what you pay for. except with most boss stuff in which case you pay for quality and get a brand!

one more thing. i do not believe squiers are particulalry a bad guitar. they admitedly are nothing on the originals but with a little know how and a selective view towards buying them you can find a nice guitar amongst the squiers.
