music sequencer

Georgeboy
I'm looking for a good free music sequencer. I've used Frinika, but there is a lot of noise when playing the created song. I tested cubase, but that program is to expensive for my activities. Sourceforge.net is not really clear in his answer on my search request.
So I hope that there are over here some musicians ans software-users who can tell me what program they use.

Thanks a lot !! Smile

Most of the programs for this sort of thing are quite specialised. I'm not entirely sure exactly what you require when you say a sequencer (I haven't used Frinika).

I have used Cubase though. If you're looking for midi-style composing then this will be useless but for simple mixing and effects you could try Audacity.

However, if you're looking for bells and whistles then you could have a look at Ardour. I haven't used it but it looks like it should do the trick! Smile

Well, I'm using Audacity for a "long" time. It's really a good program. Especially for the mixing of recordings and making a report for a radio-program. But indeed, it's not that sort of program I'm looking for. In fact, I want to compose some music pieces in midi and save them in wav or mp3 format.

So, I had a look on Ardour. It looks like the thing I'm looking for, but nevertheless their windows version is not ready. They work on it...Wink Maybe I should consider to migrate to Linux. But this could give a problem to some other programs that I need for school. Oké, dualboot, but I have no space enough anymore. I hope they work hard on the windowsversion !!

Other suggestions are still welcome... Laughing
