Glossy Windows Theme

Okay, I searched around on the forum and wasn't able to find anything about this. Anyway, I've been seeing a lot of people using Windows XP that has this theme.



How do I get this? When I go into my appearance settings I don't see anything about it.

Edit: And I'm fairly sure it's possible to get without anything like WindowBlinds because my school's computers had the same theme.

To install it, You need to follow these easy steps:

1. Download UXTheme Multi Patcher: http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=308905
2. Run it, and follow onscreen instructions (don't forget to wait for windows dialog, to confirm uxtheme file replacing!)

--NOTE: If it isn't working try version 5.0 or previous versions.

3. If patching is done restart Your system.
4. Now download theme from here: http://browse.deviantart.com/customization/skins/windows/visualstyle/?order=9&alltime=yes
5. Unpack it to: C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes
6. Double click at: *.msstyles and apply
7. DONE Smile

You don't need any additional software, it's based on Windows internal skining system, no additional resources occupied during this.

Actually, a hacked version of the UXTheme is not required.
This is because the image is the ROyale theme, a theme officially released by M$.

I think the one you(jackill) refer to is a modified version of the Royale theme. Of course, an unofficial themes by M$ can be applied using the uxtheme hack, but official ones do not need to be.

Also more official ones released by M$ are Zune and Royale Noir. They look identical except the start button (and a slight more). both provide the closest vista look you can get from microsoft (you can get almost identical vista via 3rd parties but u need to apply the UXTheme hack).

Thanks, Pole. That's what I was looking for. Installed it and it's working. And now that I know about these themes, I'm likely to go on a spree of trying to find an even better one. Very Happy

yeah ive done that before as well, i downloaded the multi-patcher and made my own theme. It took alot of work but it paid off. people were like woah whered u get that theme..... then i was able to say.,.. I made that.

Heh. I'm good with graphics and such, but I'm far too impatient and lazy to actually make my own. Though I do have some great ideas.

This is the default skin of Windows XP MEdia Centre Edition, so it should be available to download from the M$ site

Lol , i was like.... super tripped out when i was making my theme which is why its so sweet, it was the last day before i went in for an hour to get my report card, i was up til..... ehm... around 4-5 am..... i was on my laptop i started working on it at 11:30 pm and i worked on it all night and i got maybe, lets see, top 3 buttons in the windows, task bar, uhm most the stuff you would normally see right now except for buttons, and stuff.. i worked on that the next day. Then i had to change fonts on the third day.. But i forgot to back up the theme when i was formatting my laptop so i only have the PSD files for photoshop now lol. it doesnt really matter cuz i cant use it on linux anyways. But there was a program i used that assisted me in making this theme.... i cant remember the name of it, but its by the same people that made StyleXP... or maybe that was the name of it... i cant remember Just google style XP if you really want to try it.
