Paverotti's Death

WhistleTurning
Sad to hear the death of one of the worlds greatest singers. Although he was classically trained he was not afraid to get involved singing more popular songs. The opera world in fact was shocked when he sang the world cup anthem- Nessun Dorma (think that how it is spelt).

Sad news indeed. He was a true "rock star" of the opera world. You could listen to an aria and instantly know if he was singing. He was a truly great musician.

And it's acutally Nessum Dorma, an unfinished opera by Puccini. Wink

I guess I must not pay attention to that kind of stuff, because I don't even know who he was. But either way anytime a great musician dies, sucks.

That man sure could hold a note a long time.

Great singer, but he was 71, and everyone is gonna die. So I don't think people should be too sad.

I wasn't a hardcore fan of his but I do enjoy opera at a casual level. Some of his works are very nice. Bottom line is that another great talent is no longer among us. But as it's been said before, everybody dies. What we can hope now is that the current generation can bring forth someone to replace him; someone with as much talent and charisma.

What a pity! following the custorm, he was very popular in italy at the beginning, then all over the world include china! I think there is no absolut difference between popular and classical songs when we listen to him. Even, all football fans dropped in sadness while watching the game between french and italy national football team lastnight.

He tell us we can/should sing loudly on our road/society! It means a great changement has taken place in the history!

I don't follow opera circles at all
and I do appreciate his talent

I prefer listening to Andre Bocelli over traditional opera.

Just recently Paul Pot won the UK talent show.

He is very moving also.

Not suprising that all the comments bar one are "fans" to some degree even if they are not opera buffs. BTW neither am I, my taste run C&W and Country, but I can appriciate the skill and fantastic level of singing, like all the others.
