WASHINGTON -
A B-52 bomber was mistakenly armed with six nuclear warheads and flown for more than three hours across several states last week, prompting an Air Force investigation and the firing of one commander, Pentagon officials said Wednesday.
...
Rep. Ike Skelton, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, called the mishandling of the weapons "deeply disturbing" and said the committee would press the military for details. Rep. Edward J. Markey, a senior member of the Homeland Security committee, said it was "absolutely inexcusable." |
Anyone remember the film broken arrow??! But aside from that, this is VERY worrying. Accidentally using the wrong warheads cannot be that easy!

It is inexcusable. However I would not use the phrase "accidentally used." A more proper description would be "accidentally moved." The warheads never posed a high order detonation danger, even if the stratofortress crashed.

(Apparently the slogan for the Bush administration.
A nuclear warhead has accidently dropped once, in fact a few times. They have a lot of safeties.
What's the fuss about? It was a just a nuke. lol haha OMG the response was funny but the coronal got fired over it.

"A B-52 bomber was mistakenly armed with six nuclear warheads" => Those bombs were not in crates! They were not simply accidentally moved from one military base to another.
"The missiles, which are being decommissioned, were mounted onto pylons on the bomber's wings and it is unclear why the warheads had not been removed..." => Could the crew launch the missiles?
For those military handling nukes has become "routine"! Probably lunch is more important for them!
A clever enemy is better than a stupid friend.

Yes they were. The bomber was not flying a combat sortie. They were flying from one base in the United States to another base in the United States. I simply felt that using the phrase "accidentally used" implied they were accidentally armed in a combat role.

Its amazing the kind of things people manage to connect with the president these days.
Don't you know the president is in charge? That means if a janitor spills his mop water at a clinic that receive federal money, and slips on it, the "Bush Administration" failed to safeguard its citizens.
It's simply inexcusable that Bush is so incompetent that he can't even protect a janitor!
Regarding the six-piece war ender kit: Isn't it nice that the US is so free and open that such a silly thing would be allowed in the media? Anyone who likes to preach that the US media is propagandized or controlled can stick that in their pipe.
They can also realize that the B-52 is several generations old technology wise but still, with that armament, could silent many US enemies within a few hours. Maybe the evil empire is just too lazy worrying about lunch to go do the job?

Nah, anyone who thinks that to begin with will say that the press release was only released to downplay the events. What actually happened was much worse

Ha, I definitely agree. Bush has enough things blamed on him that are actually his fault. He doesn't need things like this pinned on him.
Yes, he's the head of everything that has to do with the federal government, but that doesn't mean he's in charge of it all. He hires people to do near-everything for him. So it's their faults. Thus why they were fired...
God bless
