If you are already married, i would assume you would not be forced to give up your marriage since Jesus said that divorce is only allowed in the case of adultery. If you become a priest, you will not be able to get married.

If you are married then you don't become a priest.....

But you still can.

My priest gives the reasoning as, in an effort to be Christ-like, they reject the "distraction" of a wife. They also point out that, according to accepted scripture, Jesus was not a married man. Basically they do not want to be distracted from their faith. I can't really say whether or not it's virtuous.
