Looking for Moderators to Large Forum with Potential Success

Ratman2050
I am looking for moderators for my forum http://www.thedevnetwork.com/forums. It has over 780 threads and 1,800 posts in 1 month. Although some users sometimes make mistakes in posting in the correct section. As so I am in need of a mod. Here are the details you need to fill out to be in:

1. Are you familiar with vBulletin?
2. Have you ever moderated a forum before, if so what size?
3. Do you know how to correctly moderate?
4. Will you put time and effort in?
5. Do you know programming languages and how to sort each language?
6. Are you good with software, game, or web development?

Fill those out and I will post if you are hired.

Payments:

You will receive 200 FRIH$ monthly, but I am more over looking for voluntary work as that always seems to pay off and the mod is more motivated that way.

Wow, that forum is big!!! And that in 1 month. I wanted to try becoming a mod at first but when I saw the last 2 points at when I took a look at the forums I think you don't want me as a moderator Wink Good luck though.
Ratman2050
Oh that is too bad. When I mentioned those last 2 questions, you don't have to be an expert at it, you just need to know when someone posts about CSS in the HTML forum that it should be moved, etc.

That's the point Razz I have nothing with programming languages. That's why I wouldn't be a good moderator for those forums.
Ratmaster
I can do that, for free really, and I have some experience in vBulletin, well, not modding it, because I don't have one because I am not paying 160$ for a license that only covers 1 year of updates.

I do have some experience in phpBB, so if you make a forum about it I can answer most general questions, mod research requests, and some coding problems.

I do know HTML and CSS, well the general and some advanced JS, so I can do stuff with that, and I know some PHP.

I have moderated the NetworkBoards support as a member mod, which isn't much. I have never administrated anything with a very large user base, but I think I can because I have moderated many semi-active forums before.

I am sort-of good with web development, but can you clarify?

If I find the forum active, I will put time in it, I won't become obsessed, but I will put some time in it.

I may not know HOW to code in all the languages mentioned, but I have dabbled in them, and can easily identify the lot and direct to the appropriate forum.

1. Are you familiar with vBulletin? Only vaguely, I have seen the interface but never moderated in it.
2. Have you ever moderated a forum before, if so what size? Yes, the forum had about 200 registered users posting about 10 forums and about 2k posts over a month. It dissolved from lack of interest though.
3. Do you know how to correctly moderate? Yes
4. Will you put time and effort in? Yes
5. Do you know programming languages and how to sort each language? As posted above
6. Are you good with software, game, or web development? As per coding in it myself, I am skilled in Web development, but software/game coding is not something I have done.

Seems interesting to me, I would like to have a look at this, and may even begin posting there without being a moderator.
Hammy
I would be more than happy to give my support for free.
I've looked at your forum a few times, and rather wanted to get into it myself.

1. I dont really know wat to reply to this but yeah i am. lol =]
2. I've quite a few little ones, and i know wat im doing. Being polite and using common sence mostly. Im always a bright n bubbley person xD hehe. N i dislike mods that over-do things :p.
3. yeah, else can learn by mistakes. I dont do the same mistake twice =]
4. Of course =]. The only thing that is discouraging me from this frihost forum at the minute is due to it going down for me every now n then.
5. I can recognise any language no problem. (programming language that is)
6. Web development mostly, and mIRC, n starting to get into php =].

I think i tried to sign up to ur site once but my net went off, doesnt look like i am there tho.. =[

Anywhoo All the best!
Hammy.

I am too here for the job. I dont need FRIH$ for the same and i will do a lot more than just Moderating your forum. (You will be at advantage if you consider me.)
Ratman2050
Can you answer the 7 questions so I know if you count please?

Yes i am familiar with VBulletin. I spent a lot of months on http://www.desitorrents.com/forums/ that is a vBulletin Community.

Yes i have moderated a forum. That was an average forum not too big (Like frihost) not too small. That was an average forum. It continued for 2-3 months and got 2000-2400 posts and then was closed. (because of servers problems.)

Yes i can be an average MOD Very Happy

Well i think i will try my best. But i dont think that i can devote my time that much. Also you said above that you will select "FEW", so if you will select few, means there will be more than 1 mod, it will be ok.

Yes i know the syntex of C, JAVASCRIPT, PHP, C++, HTML, CSS. (Nothing more than syntax but i am sute that i can easily differentiate between them.)

i am good with softwares, web development bt not very much familiar with new generation games. (I still play old styled NEOGEO King Of Fignters type games and no experience of XBOX etc etc)

I have few questions.

What do you want by this

Is it your own Forum/Website or your friend's or someone else's?

What incentives do you have for your visiters and mambers to make them post?

It means usually people who don't want to get paid work better because they have a motive. Say you paid me 5$ to post on a forum make 50 posts. I would do it, but I may not like the forum, or whatever reason so I may be slacking in exceptional post quality, then I have someone who likes the forum and posts, he wants to post so he makes good posts. Understand?

Yes it is my website. Fireboar (a member here on Frihost) is also a Co-Admin and Site Programmer.

Our incentives are simple, we have an outstanding community, and our forum is one of a kind. I have not seen one that associates web, game, and software dev in one. Hence the name Dev "Network".

We (Fireboar and I) are working on the new Community section, which should be up shortly, you will find that to your liking, and should attract many members.

Infact this is one of the reasons that make me offer you my services. See my PM.
Ratman2050
Okay I will wait for some more entries and pick someone soon.
Ratman2050
Is that all the moderators that want to apply?
Blaster
ahh i'll apply

1. Are you familiar with vBulletin?
Yes
2. Have you ever moderated a forum before, if so what size? Yes, a pretty decent size forum. if link needed i'll pm you it (its a free host so i can't say globally)
3. Do you know how to correctly moderate? Yes considering i'm admin at a lot of successful boards.
4. Will you put time and effort in? Of course
5. Do you know programming languages and how to sort each language? Yea i'm fairly good with php and html and css
6. Are you good with software, game, or web development? web development yes.
Ratman2050
Okay one more thing. I need to know what countries you all live in so everyone who applies please post what country you are in.
Ratmaster
United States
imagefree
WHy do you want country name?

ANyways, i am from Pakistan.
Ratman2050
Because it is more difficult to communicate in different time zones, a while back I hired some people outside the US so it was really hard to commune with them. That won't affect your chances greatly, it all depends on my decision.

But I just prefer USA, I live there, but I am from Pakistan as well.

Hey Ratman.

I don't know if I ever did get my message out to theDevnetwork, I don't remeber. But I was moving from California to South Dakota, and didn't really have much time to come on the comp at all.

Once I get all settled in, I might be interested in being a Mod. If you can, keep a position open for a few weeks, and if I get settled in here to where I can come on how I used to, then I might be interested.

I don't need the payment btw, I never use my Frih$ anyways.

Ratman2050, I won't reply to your questions because I dont think I can put in more time for other forums. Frihost takes most of my free time as it is now.

My reply here is simply to tell you (and Fireboar) that you've done a great job... AND you've got yourself a new member. An IT forums is always something I'm on the lookout for and I the only reason I see for not having spotted yours prior to this post is because we're in August (which put's me into vacation mode on some stuff).

Hi Ratman,
Here's my application

1. Are you familiar with vBulletin?
Because its a commercial system, no I haven't had too much experience, though I'm a quick learner, and I have had a bit of a play around with it on Jelsoft's demo forum Wink

2. Have you ever moderated a forum before, if so what size?
I'm currently a sub-admin on an active clan forum, however, I don't moderate it as such because the forum is such an open community that there are absolutely no rules, and the owners don't mind the members messing around etc.

3. Do you know how to correctly moderate?
Though I've not had any practical experience, I have read some useful articles and guides on moderation ( http://www.theadminzone.com - Very useful resource for forum owners)

4. Will you put time and effort in?
I will put as much time as I can towards it

5. Do you know programming languages and how to sort each language?
I've been learning PHP and MYSQL for quite a while now, I don't have experience in langauges such as Java and C++ etc., but I am starting to learn C#.

6. Are you good with software, game, or web development?
Web development specifically

7. Time Zone / Country
UK, GMT

I'd be quite happy to help out on your forum for free, as I don't really need the FRIH Wink .
I'd just like to help out for experience purposes.

Alex.
Ratman2050
