How can we to stop the spread of HIV virus?

gabrielavailable
It is no longer a news that the only disease without any cure is HIV virus and it spread faster than even money. To me the cure is not only protection but also prayer .
May God save us from a killer disease.[/b]
Shewolf
Well, we could all start using condoms, for a change, and that would pretty much stop the spreading.

or u can stop 'having it' with every girl u know...............
FroHawK

That also leads to the exstinction of the human races due to no breeding. How about we just segragate the infected population. Then it cannot spread.

Not a nice answer. But the solution to a real problem like AIDS is seldom utopian in nature.

The question is whether we want the people with HIV to be a danger or not.
molif
have 1 partner who is not infected!

There are ways for a couple with 1 partner infected to make children without infecting the other partner. Like with artificial insemination. Besides, this is only for infected people. And if everyone always used condoms, most of the new infections would come to a halt (apart from accidents and the drugs/needle community). And the same for other sexual diseases.

And gabrielavailable, I hope you understand that prayer doesn't stop the spreading of aids, a virus. Protection/condoms do though. (I'm not saying you shouldn't pray, of course Wink )

If we stop our lies, the decease will stop...
Pretty simple right? That's all there is to it.

That's very true what bondings has said. We should not go for unprotected sex with strangers and even with multiple partners.
cavey
The only way to stop it, is to not have unprotected sex with partners that you do not know have HIV or not.

The extinction of the human race? There are 6 billion of us. The planet is overpopulated based on pretty much every scientific criteria out there, and everyone except for John Stossel. The few countries with low birth rates receive tons of immigrants, the only large place on earth whose population is falling is Russia. Not to mention, people still get pregnant when they use condoms. No birth control method is 100% effective, especially condoms.

Besides, if you want to start segregating people who have deadly communicable diseases, you'd have to start with things like the strains of tuberculosis that resist treatment. Not to mention, to quarantine people who are HIV-positive you'd have to test everyone first in order to find out who those people are, but once people who have HIV are aware of its presence their behavior usually changes anyway.

Which is the point, HIV testing is the way to go. It's relatively inexpensive and could really slow the spread of the virus. Of course, there will always be people who know that they have HIV or AIDS but still continue to have unprotected sex, or even rape people. But people who have HIV and act irresponsibly will still kill far less people than tuberculosis, or malaria, or good old-fashioned murder.

HIV is a virus. Human beings still haven't found a vaccine, much less a cure, for the common cold, also a virus. Viruses are hard to control. And even if the medical community did decide to go for a quarantine, bird flu would mutate and kill everyone while the infected population is "segregated."

Nowadays it is hard to determine if your partner is infected. Sometimes the person itself does not know that he/she is infected....So the best thing to do is use a condom. And avoid anal sex. HIV virus is bloodborne. Anus is surrounded by mucuso. Any breakage from it can be a port of entry for a virus.

And what if they are lying? No, the best way to stop this dreadfull decease is to find a cure, like a cure as in medication. Stop fooling around would be a good cure though. Laughing

Condoms are the best solution we have but there are problems that haven't been mentioned here. THere is a big culture road block to navigate. There are many cultural reasons from all around the world for people not use (or afraid to use) condoms. Another is money. The people that make them are just going to give them all away, and they can be to expensive for people in developing countries.
shigella
Sadow,
You talking of curing this disease?huh! Then you are not giving focus on the preventive measures. Hope you are familiar with the saying "Prevention is better than cure"
shigella
Yeah, culture can be a big difference. But let me ask you, nowadays who else doesnt know about condoms.

If they are lying, you might get HIV. Of course you can never know for sure if your partner is lying, that's life. You can also get hit by a car next time you cross the street. If you think that you cannot trust your partner, you should wear protection.

Learn the ABCD of life. That's what i have been taught in school.

Survival of the fittest. HIV is a way to weed out the stupid. Be smart, use a condom
supjapscrapper
well, easy, we should all stop having sex like rabbitrs and get to work and build a nice planet for our children, If everybody just had sex with his wife, HIV would never have been such a killer...

HIV is (also) a way to weed out the unlucky. Be lucky, don't get raped.

Oh, and, be lucky, don't get born with the virus.

Not to mention, a stupid person in a rich country who has lots of money and health insurance will have easy access to antiretrovirals. They'll be able to live longer, and it'll be less likely that their children will be born with HIV. While a perfectly smart person whose spouse cheated on them and gave them HIV, but who lives in a poor country and has no health coverage and little extra money, will die of the virus before they are able to reproduce, or their children will die. So HIV is also weeding out those who lost the geographic lottery when they were born. That's not Darwinian at all.
cpebatch2007_CIT
it cant be stop... just be sure that your partner don't have hiv or aids before doing sex.
J-Evil
One problem is though, that a lot of people don't get tested and therefore they don't even know if they have it or not until it starts causing health problems for them down the road.

The (obvious) other problem is the people that don't use protection and risk catching it or spreading it if they already do have it and don't know or just don't care (yes there are people like that, sadly and they should be shot IMO).
eday2010
Use a damn condom, don't sleep around, and don't share needles. If you are with someone in a relationship and you both tested negative for HIV/AIDS, then forego the condom. But otherwise, use one and don't be a slut/druggie.

They can't "Cure" the cold with one dose of something because it is constantly changing form.
AIDS can't be cured because it's not actually a virus, it is the cause of HIV over a long period of time.
HIV != AIDS
HIV is also a very complicated virus, and we have yet to find a "cure".
