Surprised there's no talk of this show here yet. From the maker of Deadwood...

Kind of hard to explain the show, but basically it revolves around a family (The Yosts), who were basically all surfing legends. The father hurt his knee and had to quit back in the day, the son is regarded as the best surfer of his time, but is now a junkie, and HIS son is just getting started. Then a mysterious stranger shows up, and strange things start happening, including a little levitation and some strange miracle healing.
The show won't be for everyone as it's very character driven and if you've seen any of David Milch's other stuff (Deadwood for example), you'll know he makes great use of his dialog (but this can put people off).
Anyway, the show is brilliant in my opinion, so give it a go
