The best player soccer
who is the best player for you and why?
for me Luis Figo, what a goal...euro 2004 Portugal 3 England 2

I think Luiz Ronaldo is the best player...
All those players are way too old and the stars from yesterday: The real good players today are Robinho, Kaka, Messi etc...
Now we talk about Kaka, Rooney, Ronaldinho,Messy!
However I still consider Zidane to be a great palyer in last ten years. The French national football team leading by him and Thuram had won nearly all of championships.
Beckhame? He's a star, popular star, and he has done well enough in fashion, not so well in playground.

The list for the poll is a bit strange.
What does Beckham there? He is like Kurnikova, just used for advertising. (does she still try to play Tennis?)
Zidane is not really an active player anymore but of course he was a great one. Nethertheless I wouldn't say that he was the best because he got several red cards that were very damaging for the team.
And a lot of great names are missing, Ronaldinho of course, Messi, kaka who werenominated in other posts.
I think we cannot really say that one player is really better than others because it depends on the physical shape and a whole season is so demanding that you cannot be at the top all the time.

Just the last few authors, I don't think this is an accurate poll. I do believe some other players should be on it...
and NOT Wayne Rooney...
I am thinking more of Lionel Messi, Kaka and Ronaldinho.
As a Dutch soccer fan, I would like Robin van Persie on the list...
Greetz, Bart

Man that poll isn't right but, if it were for the players when they were in their day, Zinedine Zidane, atm this year the best player in the world has to be kaka, pure class

Man you people are idiots, Beckham transformed the whole aspect of freekicks , no longer were they for setting up team mates but they were used as a shot. He may be a walking billboard now because injuries have finished him but in his day he was the best crosser in the world and saved englands a**e on many occasions. Think before you speak
I think that you are right about Beckham. But, the poll is wrong. Anyway, out of the three, Zizou is the best - undoubtably and yes, they are stars of yesteryear.
Currently, Messi has got to be up there. He certainly showed us Aussies how to play earlier this week!
