CRT Burn In

I got this free CRT from a friend, and it has a coral reef burned into it, is there a way to remove this by like displaying a black or white only screen for a long time? Or does that only work on LCD's?

With a CRT, it is EXTREMELY hard to remove a burn-in image. You can use software to try to get rid of it (I forget what it's called though >_< ), but in most cases, just throw it out and get a new CRT. Or even better, an LCD...

Could you point me in the direction of some of this software?

If the phosphore is burnt then the only solution is to change the picture tube. A better solution will be to have a new one as the price difference will be nominal between a new picture tube and a new monitor.

I agree with that (better a new LCD). Opening a CRT might be dangerous. It has an electromagnetic technology and deals with relatively high voltages and currents. It's the old technology.
LCD is nowadays a much better solution.

Thanks alot for your help guys, And I'm not exactly sure WHAT is burnt in. IF a certain thing was burnt in could it be fixable without replacing hardware?
