I was reminded out of the blue today of three different TV shows I watched to varying degrees as a kid back in the late 70's.
Quark (about a garbage man in space having various adventures)
Holmes & Yo Yo (a police detective and his robot partner having various adventures)
BJ and the Bear (some lonely dude in a truck with his pet monkey having various... adventures)
No wonder I don't watch much TV these days. Anyone remember these shows?
I vaguely remember B.J. and the Bear.
Man, there were so many shows on during the late 70's and 80's that I still recall from time to time.
Let's see...
I was a big fan of "Fat Albert", "Sledge Hammer", "Shanana", "Sidekicks", "Fangface", "The Fall Guy" (I used to adore the theme song to that show!)
And I was also a big fan of The Addams Family, The Munsters, Sanford & Son...
The list really is endless, at least for me.
From my youth... I would say:
Popeye
Tom and Jerry
The Smurfs
Power Rangers
aww... those were the days - where life was simple and the worse crisis was being bored and deciding whether to play with legos or with trolls.
fav shows from my childhood
CAPTAIN PLANET & THE PLANETEERS
ASTROBOY
MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE

From my youth, my favourites would have to be:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:
And Rupert Bear
And of course Reboot!
These shows were the stuff that sparked imagination and made playing with action figures infinitely more entertaining!!!
During my childhood days Doordarshan- a television broadcaster owned by governmant of India- was the only form of entertainment for us. I did like shows like Ramayana, Mahabharata (religious ones) and many more.
Doordarshan is known for its news value and heavily plays down on sensationalism, which has become a part of most of the current age news channels. Being a government owned enterprise it is not motivated to cover stories heavily doused with entertainment. While most of the news channels have turned into providing infotainment kind of news, Doordarshan has held on to its reins and news value. Being a champion of rural rights, Doordarshan's special programmes on agriculture helped the farmer familiarise with the new age techniques to save their crop from weeds, soil erosion and helped them to turn into prosperous farmers. The special series of farmers programme, even after decades are a favourite with the rural sector.
While the news channels involve in yellow journalism and with breaking news, being broken every minute, and amongst the bombardment of heavy dosage of distrorted news, Doordarshan comes as a great relief.
maybe I'm not old enough for most of these.
Some of my favorite shows as a kid were:
AAAAH! Real Monsters
Rocko's Modern Life
Are You Afraid of the Dark (don't laugh, anyone my age had to love it too)
... man, I can't remember the names! There's more than that, though...
There are too many to name:
full house
step by step
family matters
boy meets world
ninja turtles
darkwing duck
talespin
chip and dale rescue rangers
I remember these (showing my age here... 1917 was a good year...)
Gilligans Island
Get Smart
Addams Family
Beverly Hillbillies
Bewitched
The Flintstones (the Simpsons of the 60's!)
(cringe) the Brady Bunch
Gomer Pyle
Munsters
Thunderbirds
notice most of these have ben made into movies - for those too young to know if a movie is rubbish a rule of thumb here is that it probably came from a 60's american sitcom. that said - the sitcoms themselves were actually quite good!
Stopit & Tidyup and Trapdoor are my favourite kids shows from my youth.
If you've not seen them, you can find episodes on YouTube, watch them and wonder why a whole generation of British folk are not far more screwed up.
Well it was certainly nice to be reminded of these old shows. hehe.
My List would also include:
The Smurfs
Thunderbirds
ninja turtles
CAPTAIN PLANET & THE PLANETEERS
He-Man and The MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE

Those guys were supposed to be teenagers?! They look like they're STILL older than me...
I used to watch the Mario show after school every day, as well as the early Nickelodeon cartoons like Rugrats, Ren & Stimpy, and Rocko. We didn't get too many channels when I was young. Later on, we moved and I discovered the joys of Cartoon Network and... Scooby-Doo...
Funny thing is, most of the awesome cartoons I watched as a kid, if I watched them now, I'd probably be thinking "I can't believe I used to watch this!"
That being said:
Mysterious Cities of Gold
Captain Planet
Widget
TMNT
Transformers
Looney Toons
The Muppet Show
Freakazoid
The Smurfs
He-Man
Trapdoor
The Flintstones
Duck Tales
Darkwing Duck
Rescue Rangers
Roger Ramjet
I'm sure there's a few more, and I didn't watch all of these all the time (I missed a lot of episodes and didn't understand things much back then
) but I've seen all of them. There's a few I haven't listed because they were crap, but I've seen them.
Also, the Power Rangers sucked and should never have been broadcasted :p
I'm not really that old but when I was growing up my favorite shows were
power rangers
Biker Mice from Mars
Animaniacs

I especially remember Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea. Hope they will resend this one in Norway!
The Wonder Years with Fred Savage
Miami Vice (the original series)
Silk Stalkings from when I was 17-18
+++ many norwegian series (Serum serum, Pelle parafins bøljeband ++)
Well, I remember Bewitched, I dream of Jeannie and Charlie's Angels from when I was a little girl.
And from whem I was like a teenager, I used to watch Beverly Hills 90210, Silk Stalkings and Baywatch.
Those were great times...
I watched a lot of shows while growing up. But the show I remember was one of the earliest was Bonanza, the western drama, or what genre it is. We didn't have any television before I was six, and there wasn’t really many good things on the two channels we did have. But later on I became interested in magic shows and comedy.
Bobby's world,Power rangers,Anamaniacs ( however you spell it), felix the cat, Spot the dog. this list goes on
A major favorite of mine:
Of course, I was a full grown adult when I was watching that...
From my childhood, I have a few favorites:
And of course...

BJ & The Bear
Combat
CHIPS
Space 1999
Thunderbird
Thundercats
Dallas
Full house
Little House on the Prairie
Tranformers

Yeah yeah!! Those shows rocked! I remember I used to ride around on my bike pretending I was a biker mouse. That was awesome! And I still think the Animaniacs are amazing. They were like a parody of themselves, at the same time a huge social commentary with a little more class than family guy or robot chicken.
My favouites are:
POKEMON
AND YUGIOH!!
i STILL GOT MY GOD CARDS and 4 limited edition cards from movie=)
I never liked typical tv shows and cartons so my favourites was/are:
