I feel sick, just want to go to the himalayas and be with the gods for sometime.

No IT is a very attractive field. By profession i am going to be an accountant but i love IT so i m here and learning web designing.
Infact in order to make your future in IT, the first thing you have to do is to see weather you have interest in it or not. Because, as you said, IT is really a Dynamic field. Things change daily and wee all have to keep thetrack of them.

Nope not at all. I take it as a challenge to update myself with the latest technologies.

Passion and interest in the job will keep you going. At least that's for me. I work as a Security Consultant but obviously the whole IT world is interconnected - you'll need to delve into other IT fields even though you're specialising in one or two. I treat my job as a hobby and I just love it, instead of looking at it as a money income.

That's what I always think of, I meant the IT field is so dynamic that I wonder if we that are prompt to aging- could take a hold of it. I meant like I'm always proud I taught my dad on how to surf the Net, and tutoring the younger batch of the school's website team to design website.. but I noticed my dad still take a long time to learn something about computers.. while the younger students, they seemed like they can easily overpower me with their design. So, somehow I think that the IT field doesn't really suit me.. though I have the basic interest in it-

Web Design is a very quickly changing field and heaps of new trends, techniques and technologies are always emerging but I love it so I don't mind trying to keep up with it.

IT work isn't stressful for me, i find it quite fun because i hardly ever have to look up what a function or a tag does anymore, it's all of the top of my head and i dind it quite cruisey...

I work in the IT field -- security, software developing, etc. It is stressful at times since you have to learn things quickly and adapt to different architectures for the client's needs.

The money is also great. Smile

I 2. It should be taken as challenge.

I'm in my mid 20's now and I didn't find IT as stressful as I can think because ever since at my younger years in this field, I love researching things as what as IT is all about. Moreover, like what the others told, challenge is one factor why I like this kind of job. It's almost a decade I'm this field doing web and software development and now my attention is focused in 3D development and rendering systems. There's a lot in IT that can be learned, it's like an "information overload" if I think of it sometimes but it's fun. I think commitment with this field is much more important than any skill acquired from IT. Smile

The only stressful thing about the IT is when you don't have a project. But if you have a project or working on something, IT is one of the most challenging fields there is and the most exciting field too. I just love to be challenge so much that I can feel the beat of the nerves inside my head.

It's really cool especially when you're doing hard projects and you're able to formulate solutions with problems that you never thought you could do before. One of the biggest challenge I faced in this field was with a SAS project. The project I guess was so hard that for 5 years of development, nobody was able to finished it. I was so lucky that I was able to finished it this year and I was the seventh guy to be assigned on that project since its development started 5 years ago.

Right now I am not working on a project so you know what that means..... I'm stressed..

Cheers!

I'm IT as a co-op and love it. I would never even remotely consider doing it for the rest of my life though. I know I can make more in engineering, so I'm slowly transitioning over to another department to do some coding.

IT work is relaxing to me. I keep track of all the new stuff simply because it is a hobby to me, not because it is my job. I love to build computers, and like to maintain and upgrade them. Servers are fun to me, and I love reading about new technology, standards, etc (especially if it is homebrew stuff).

IT doesn't stress me out but I personally know of many people who do get stressed out with all things 'IT' related.

IT is not for everyone I suppose :p

For me, who is not a professional in IT, it is not troublesome. I work for my own pleasure or for the benifit of the NGOs I am associated with. No payments, no timelines and no tension. But when you work to earn, you may develop problems...

I'm in IT as dev and loving it, as long as there's the challenge then its all good, but when it gets repetitive, it gets boring and stressful already, i dunno why..
and for me, as long as you love what your doing, be it in IT field or another you'll be ok, just don't forget to take care of your health.

i guess it completely depends on the kind of company you get in
