The Simpsons Movie!!!

ChrisCh
Ok, so I saw the Simpsons movie on Saturday night - quite original and funny!! Any thoughts? Very Happy

(PS: I tried searching, and for some reason no-one else has made a topic about the movie itself, so it's about time! Very Happy )

It won't air here for some time. TOday I saw a commercial that said the 16th of August. :(

being a massive fan of the show i thought the movie was shite. i was actually insulted by the lack of depth in any of the jokes as well as the storyline that appeared to be written in a few days. it seems to me that they have made a movie for all the people who do not watch the show. this was the wrong way to approach it as there must only be a handful of people on this planet who do not know or watch it!

i could pick out a bunch of stuff that just was not smart or funny like the show, but here is a few to start:

otto smoking a bong? - not funny. what would have been funny, as is done in the show would be to allude to the fact, making snide jokes around the issue and leaving the viewer to put the puzzle together.

magggie's first words? "sequal"? wtf? maggie's first words were "dadda" on the show if i am not mistaken, and how tackless to even put that in there anyway? cute? no. playing to the general public? yes. simpson's wit and humour? no.

homer driving down to the lake to dump the silo and running into the signs saying "no dumping" funny? yes, quite. but then the one sign pops up held by hans moeman saying "you suck". funny? not even slightly. and why held by hans moeman? it was like he was just thrown in there for the sake of it.

fans of this show have been waiting 15 years approx for this movie (since season 4 when it was first touted) and to wind up with this over-commercialised shlock is a massive insult. the last few seasons of the show have slowly gone down a similar path and those signs are indicative of a show that is certainly on the way out.

i hope they pull the pin as seinfeld did and at least leave with a little dignity before it is too late.

I'm probably going to watch it tomorrow. From what I hear, all it is, is it's just an hour and a half long episode. But it's still the simpsons, so its worth seeing in my books
Nameless
I haven't seen the movie (from what I've heard, I'll probably wait to rent it on DVD), but I am already sick to death of some people singing the stupid 'spiderpig' thing. It was amusing the first time guys, not the fifteenth.

Still, I like the comic book more.

The movie is fine. People say "it'll be like like an 1h30 episode" and that's exactly what it is. What else could you expect? Plus, technically it's very well done.

All I can say is that it is the first American comedy that made me laugh in a long long time

I have seen it, and it is just like the series but a bit longer.

OMG I went to see it yesterday and it was great!! It wasn't too far fetched like some of their latest episodes and the jokes were cute, not an absolutely hilarious movie, but I still enjoyed watching it, it didn't feel long either, it was shorter than watching four Simpson episodes in a row, which I've already done, lol, but yeah, it was cool to see all the characters and such. I enjoyed it!

Overall i enjoyed The Simpsons. I was hoping they would add more Ralph Wiggum since he's my favourite character ^^. I liked the nice storyline and the humor they used. But i believe the humor wasn't at it's fullest potential. Still had a lot of laughs but regardless I respect the movie and how it was made and although it wasn't the best thing i have seen, it was a memorable, enjoyable experience. Now to wait for Rush Hour 3 hah xD,

I love the Simpsons but I find it hard to watch it at the movies. Like everyone said its basically a hour and a half simpsons episode. If i had some extra cash though maybe I would have but i'll wait for the dvd.

i particularly like the introduction of the movie, about itchy and scratchy and homer who chided the audience for paying to watch something that can be watched on tv!

the rest of the film was typically simpsons, political, clever, but silly at the same time.
greatest animation ever i think.

GREATEST PIG THAT EVER LIVED!

I liked the movie. Granted, "best movie this year" it is not. The humor was cute and it was clear they were trying to do things they couldn't get away with on network television (like Marge's "Throw the God damn bomb" or Barts... flashing the audience...) It could have been better. A lot better, but what can you do now? It's worth the $6.50 to see it on the big screen, unless you've got a top-notch entertainment system.

I plan to watch this. This should be fun and entertaining. Smile

Simpsons is a very nice cartoon.

I m gonna see it next week or something.. I hope it is really funny..

I watched it the other day. It was all right but I'm looking more forward to Rush Hour 3.

I watched it not too long ago...

I thought it was hilarious, it got quite a few good laughs out of me. I am a bit of a Simpson's fan, but I haven't watched any of the new episodes of the show... due to my lack of access to tv shows in general (long story).

The movie was great to me, though I think that maybe there was a bit too much hype behind it. And the trailers gave away a lot of the jokes... I'm still somewhat confused about how a certain scene can be shown over and over on commercials and yet everyone seems to laugh hysterically when it shows up on screen. But the movie stayed true to the usual Simpsons humor, and was a great deal better than some movies I've seen lately.

I'd recommend it to anyone who likes the Simpsons. Very Happy

Yeah, I admit that was a really dumb joke, but if I recall correctly, nobody was around when Maggie said "dada", so to them it would be her first word.

Overall, I enjoyed the movie. It had funny parts. Not as hilarious as some recent movies, but I still think it was well done and worth my money.

I managed to see the movie a fortnight ago. Well worth the price of admission. Very Happy

I enjoyed this movie!
I've heard a few friends say it felt like a very long simpsons episode, though I kinda wished it was longer...~ haha

Yeah, I saw that episode. Nobody was around to hear it. Sad how they try to be cute by making her say "sequel" instead. Confused

I do recall Homer call the audience fools for paying for something that we could otherwise watch on TV for free--and I believe that he definitely is right. Laughing

Plot-wise, it sucked. Laughing Honestly, it wasn't anything spectacular--it was like just one long episode.

It was really really entertaining though, and despite the overall [lack of] quality, I got a lot of laughs from watching it. Very Happy Good jokes, very good pace, and lots of little quirks here and there... I really enjoyed the movie. Razz

PS: I should have waited for the DVD to come out, though. I mean, this definitely is a "DVD movie", and not so much worth my $6.50.

I think most simpson fans would be delighted if its just like the series.

Brilliant movie, exactly what one would expect. If you like the series you'd like the movie, if you didn't like the series you woundn't like the movie.

My only criticism of it is that some of hte jokes were a little bit predictable - but then I've seen so many episodes - like most fans I almost know how the writer's think.

If you havn't seen it make sure you stay to the end of the credits, where Maggie speaks - although this is not the first time she speaks - there was an episode in the past where she was voiced by Elizabeth Taylor.

Yeah it was excellent and really funny... but...

Anyone remember when the Simpsons didn't used to be just a random series of jokes stitched together by a very loose narrative.

You know when it was actually a series about a dysfunctional family that wasn't totally unrealistic. The TV show, at least the new episodes I've seen that have made it to Channel 4 just seems to be a bunch of wacky stuff that homer does. The movie wasn't quite as bad, but I still can't help but think a Simpsons movie that had been made during the Simpsons prime would have been far better,

i loved the movie, but i watched it in german: "spiderschwein, spiderschwein, tut was ein spiderschwein so tut..."

i wish i count be at your place..... T.T...

I still have to see it, but it is hard to find a time when all friends are free to go with me. :(

I loved the moive! It was very true to the series, alsmost like watching a regualr episode from TV but just bigger plot and with better visual animation effects.

I havent seen it yet but am planning to. Since Im an avid fan of the series.

The thing about the Simpsons film is..uhm. Maybe it's not a perfect feature film, but if you look at it, as if it was just a part of the series and not an independent film - then everything looks well and in its own place.
pravojednostavno
The Simpson Movie was quite funny - but I like more the show of them.
