I can get into the FTP, but when I start uploading some files it just hangs and the upload goes like 1.25kb/s and after that he says transfer failed.

What FTP client are you using? Try with CuteFTP... it got a couple of nice features like retries upon communication failure, upload resuming, mutithread transfer etc...
Is cuteFTP free? I use Filezilla currently, I think that he's as better as CuteFtp
I'm using SmartFTP, I'll try cuteFTP then. SmartFTP has always worked in the past few years for me, so I doubt the reason lies with SmartFTP, but I'll see.
I've just tried CuteFTP and it is the exact same problem, well there is little improvement. He uploaded a few files, like 30kb of files and then he starts uploading terribly slowly (almost nothing), which isn't normal, since I have an uploadspeed of around 50 KB/sec. After like five minutes he says transfer failed.
