First of all I tell you what codecs I'm using for playing mkv files so : CoreAVC 1.3 (h264 codec) , Haali Media Splitter 1.7 and VobSub 2.23 for subtitles. I've tried to open mkv files with many players (bsplayer , wmp , mplayer2 ) but subtitles didn't appear in fact that haali spiter recognized english subtitles , i think there is a problem with vobsub . Is there similar tool to vobsub?

In MPlayer, you can use these "hotkeys":
v
Toggle subtitle visibility.
j
Cycle through the available subtitles.
y and g
Step forward/backward in the subtitle list.
F
Toggle displaying "forced subtitles".
a
Toggle subtitle alignment: top / middle / bottom.
x and z
Adjust subtitle delay by +/- 0.1 seconds.
r and t
Move subtitles up/down.
