my friend told me that the xbox has lost bill gates something like a billion dollars. Is this true? How come?
I see xboxs everywhere, and they appear to be selling really well (ps3 isn't doing so well).

According to my non gamer knowledge, it costs more to produce it than what they sell it for, so they lose money. They get a return somewhere in the future.
I honestly forgot how it works, so don't take my word for it.
The money from the sale of the xbox is not the only way that Microsoft gets money for the xbox. They will also get money from the sale of the games that they make themselves for the xbox. And they will also get a cut of the money from the sale of the games other game makers make for the xbox. So even if they sell the xbox itself at a loss, they can still make a profit from the games.
I think google could be more useful for asking such things... News sites etc.
