Beware the evil caterpillar!

ocalhoun
For your viewing pleasure,
I present to you quite a treasure.
A meaner looking bug you'll never see,
what do you think of this photo (taken by me)?

I apologize for typing in verse;
I've been reading a book which had to much rhyme.
Sometimes I think it a curse,
I even think in verse now: all the time!
But, then again, it could be worse.

That is an amazing picture!
And the fact that you've described it in verse makes it interesting to read as well!
Lovely little thread you've started here... one of the better ones I've enjoyed.

With normal completely automatic settings. Out of 4 photos, this was the only one that focused properly. (I'm beginning to hate my camera for not having a manual focus control...) I then opened it with the GIMP, and cropped it down to include just the subject. By doing that, I can take advantage of the 7.2 megapixel resolution to give me the same effect as a digital zoom, without pixelizing it. I was also lucky to have almost perfect lighting.
I took it with my waterproof, shockproof, Olympus 720SW.
It was along the way on a 10 mile walk I was taking on Fort Fraiser trail in Lakeland, FL.
