Surviving a reverse-spam attack

qscomputing
Hi,

I have received over 1000 delivery-failed notifications in 2 days, all for email that I didn't send. I'm guessing this means that I've fallen victim to a "reverse-spam" attack, where an attacker has sent spam from my email address so that I receive evil replies and errors. Closer inspection suggests that all the errors have been sent to one address. Is there any way to silently drop email (including errors) sent to this address? Or is there a better way to deal with this sort of attack?

Thanks,
QS.

It depends how much you need that email address. If you are able to switch to a different email address, simply do that and remove the previous/spammed one and let all email fail/ignore. You can set the option under catch-all in DirectAdmin, I think the "ignore" option is what you want. Of course you need to remove the email address first.
