Task Manager diabled :(

Guys -

Suddenly my task manager got disabled suddenly.

Iam the administrator for my machine. Still it is disabled. Sad

OS - Microsoft XP SE

Please note that this is the first time this has happened and as a matter of fact, iam even not able to open the windows configuration utility Mad

i.e., When i Click Start -> Run -> msconfig, then it is not displaying the configuration utility dialogue box.

Very bad. I use Internet and i suspect a virus or trojan being destroyed some file.

Can anyone advice me on what to do or how to proceed on with.

I will gladly send you a private message with this same information, but I thought I should post it here just in case anyone else ever has this problem. ( I did a while back on one of my XP machines, happened for no reason at all.)

Thank you kuyman for providing me the URL and i understand that it was due to the reason that there was a virus / trojan that was creating this problem.

Iam not sure, i thinki it was an .exe (somenumber dot exe file - ex. 542822.exe) that was creating some problems. Multiple exe's of such kind were found in the temporary folders.
