Hey I was wondering how i can write a method that will get an integer value from a Table in MS Access so that it can be saved into a variable, i looked through loads of examples and stuff

i have 3 columns and i want it to take the 3rd column of data so that i can add all the values together

also i have seen in examples i have come across that they start a database by using

dim db as Database

but it always says cannot define Database or something along those lines any help to that too

kind regards
Andy

You probably don't have the required module/library/whatever provides the Database object loaded.

Bearing in mind that the last time I used VB was years ago... have a look at the "References" your project is set to use. It's probably somewhere under the tools menu or similar.
Have a look for something that looks like "Jet database engine" or "MS Jet".

The examples you have found probably have something related to this in the preceding text but probably not in the code itself.
