Help me with WEB FILTERS

In my college hostel they provide free internet to browse with but only on some conditions..The conditions are that we cant access orkut and mail sites.They blocked all such sites.Thank god that i am getting frihost.com .
So i want all you guys to help me to get these sites anyway..They some filter like FortiGuard.And also when try to access mail sites like gmail.com it comes like "The requested URL cant be retrieved" and this is done with squid/2.5.STABLE6.So you guys please help not only me also all my hostel mates.Tell me how to work with it.
As one of my friend told me i tried www.gravitywars.com but when i try to access the site it comes like:
"You have tried to access a web page which is in violation of your internet usage policy."

I remember a good add-on to firefox web browser.. But it's only available with the 1.0 version (now it's 2.0.0.4).. Try it!

You can also use google to search for webproxies, for example http://www.google.nl/search?q=phproxy, It is a nice way to bypass site blockings, but they are often slow or do not work (anymore).

Another option is to use one of the firefox proxy extensions to quickly switch between proxies (https://addons.mozilla.org/nl/firefox/search?q=proxy&status=4) and search for a good list of free proxy servers (http://www.google.nl/search?q=%22free+proxy+list).

Yet another option is to install an anonymizing tool like JAP.

It really depends on how things are set up.

I wrote a small app that hashes the IPs so that you can visit sites around filters. PM me if you are running Windows and interested in a copy. You do have to do a bit of scouting to get the IP to the site, but it only takes an extra few seconds.
