I have been trying to find a free shopping cart for my website and I think I found one, a php cart.
I'd like to know if I can install the cart on the server itself?
I do hope I am asking the correct questions.
I am asked for the ftp info which I have and the files can be installed, but when I am about to complete it...
I am asked for the url of the installation file on the server.
This is where I am confused.
Can someone tell me if using this software is permitted and maybe tell me what I am missing?
Thanks for reading this.

You are allowed to host shopping carts that are free..
If the shopping cart is at yoursite.frih.net/cart then the installation file may be somewhere like yoursite.frih.net/cart/install.php etc
hi scorpio
thank you for your response. I'm gonna check it out and come back and post what happens.

sure you can install a free cart system... but you should not sell things such as alcohol, weapons, illegal things and porn

OK,
Have you confiruged it right? Does it use MySql? If so, is the domain setup is "shadeandtoes.com"?
Hi why6487,
I have absolutely no idea what MySql is
I am absolutely new and quite clueless to this.
Just a quick note - DON'T accept credit cards in your shop, as FriHost does not offer encryption to protect the highly sensitive date. If you can, get your customers to pay using PayPal instead
blaster thanks
chris...I'm not interested in processing cards
So I think I'm safe.

I need some help with this please.
I have used the NOP cart..which is a free shopping cart.
It works with a .pl file which I have to place in the cgi bin together with a CSV file.
When I go thru the process of the cart system I get to the final stage and when I hit submit order I get the following message, which I have quoted below.

walsh...there are some for free....you can try the one i am trying, cause I know it works for people I know, tho I don't know why it's not working now.
just google: nopcart
I'm not sure about the cart you've installed but it might be worth taking a look at ZenCart.
It's another free PHP one. I use it for my site. It's very flexible and has a shedload of support from a very active user/developer community.
In addition it integrates with PayPal (using their secure http) so you can take credit/debit card payments without risk - and without needing an agreement with a payment processor.
If you want to take a closer look here's their web site: http://www.zen-cart.com/ and here's the forum: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/
GSIS....thanks, for the suggestion...I'll check it out now
