My site www.myarcadeplanet.com averages around 200 000 impressions a month. Our alexa rating is aroun 200 000 (this past week has been more like 100 000; today alone we had 16, 000 impression 10 000 unique hits...
The problem is we barely make a dolar a day on ads... Any advice?
WOW Some great hit numbers, I have just had a look at your site and its awesome..
Would love to hear the advice of others on this one.. I for one have never used banner ads, so would like to see how it works...
BTW I clicked one for you while on your site... thats for a cup of tea or something!
Our traffic for the past 3 days has been (in thousands of unique hits) 15; 14; 14[as of 3pm today]
yet we make pretty much nothing on ads... any ideas?
Are you sure those are unique visits? Well the best solution would be to try valueclickmedia, they pay per impression. But honestly I can't even see the ads, so maybe if they were more visible. It might be a little more annoying to your users, but that's the cost of earning money.

Yep, google analytics
Look us up on alexa... only the first of thoose three days is up yet, but that should show I'm not trying to lie...
I believe you. Just pay more attention to Analytics. Don't trust Alexa that much though, I have a pretty big site around 200,000 and my friend has a way smaller site and his rank is like 70,000 so it's not very accurate.
I think one of the half banners might do good on the homepage right above "hacking at prices".

Hmm... I see what the rest of the guys think...
And I ignore alexa for the most part. I was just stating its easy to see my recent traffic, since yestday was 20,000 on it...
Alexas just nice for public record that anyone can see.
Put ads near where people are looking. For example, just below a title of an article.
By the way, with 10k uniques per day you can make at least $50 per day I think. You just need better ad placement. Probably around $100 per day if you had YPN, but their rates are going down very fast.
We just added the eminimall type ads that you see on frihost to our site in the actual articles.
i have seen your alexa ranking page.
There are BOOMS in last half of march, may and now in june.
How r u doing this? Are you advertising your site (may be on google)?
What i understand from your alexa data is that you are heavily spreading your site's links over the net ( may be through paid advertising), but the visiters are not at all interested in your website.
So first try to develop visitor's interest and then any kind of advertising will be helpful.
If i am wrong, inform me.

Well, its mostly through www.digg.com and www.n4g.com
We maintain a user base of 1k hits perday; however when we end up on front pages on news agragates our traffic explodes...
We also get picked up by sites like xbox360fanboy.com and g4tv.com
that should explain the bursts
We don't pay for advertising, and residual traffic is steadly increasing...
EDIT: Minimall seems to have decent payout...
