Please help me out here... I have 1.5MB internet......
I should be getting MUCH more than 40kbps on a download speed test.... it really sucks Evil or Very Mad

It is pissing me off... I released the IP address and renewed it... same thing.... I took a different test and it just timed out
it really sucks...... please help me out here.

Do you have firewalls or other programs monitoring your connection? These programs can slow downloads.

Try doing this... assuming you are using a Windows computer.

Go to Start -> Run
Type in cmd and press ok
This will bring up the command prompt.

Type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter. Occasionally something in the DNS cache can get corrupted and slow things down.

Also, if you're going through any kind of router (especially a wireless one) you might want to check that. If you're using a wired router, try swapping out the cable. Believe it or not, the cable you use does have an effect on the speed of the data.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner... the internet finally just quit working yesterday... I did all of the things listed though... it didn't work.
the ISP was just having trouble it's going up to speed today I just took a speed test and got 200kbps. which is what i should be getting.

I don't have a router or anything in that sort... I have 1.5MB cable.
