Is anyone familiar with gaming servers..

I'm looking to buy a server for Counter-Strike:Source and i was wondering which platform would be most stable. I know that the server hosts give u the option for windows or linux. I used to own a dedicated server about 3 years ago and it wasnt ftp access, it was the other one where u can actually see the screen.

Which would be most stable to run a Counter strike server on?

definately linux

on a well tuned system (whether you rent a dedicated box with ssh, or just one with a control panel to control it) the CS:S server would be much faster, and would have better uptime

and even better if they use ReiserFS or XFS on their linux boxes, which will decrease overhead, and take down seek latency (making downloads and other stuff a teency bit faster)
