Martial Arts

Peafy
Does anybody here take any form of martial arts? Just wondering, because nobody here has a topic about martial arts. And if you do take martial arts whats your favorite move? I like kicks and there are too many that I like. I also like to spar(as long as my sparring partner follows the rules)

I have been studying martial arts for years.

I have no style. But I found BJJ, Krav Maga, Greco Roman, Pancrase and good old Ninjutsu very helpful.

I never got into any one school of traditional MA. I had been in to many real fights to get into most Traditional Martial Arts. Because they are not very "martial" at all.

They are sparring sports and nothing more.

I still train privately with good friends. We have a sort of fight club.

We have mouth pieces and gloves though. No weight classes either.

No bare knucle stuff. that tends to cut you up fast. If you train often you will soon look real ugle without gloves. We fight hard.

I thought a guy chipped my jaw bone last time I fought. Little guy too. I'm kinda big. This type of training teaches you not to underestimate yourself or others very quickly.

When a little guy hurts a guy like me they build confidence quickly. Makes the fights more interesting.

Sorry, I didn't answer your other questions.

My favorite move is a good old liver punch and heart punch. The hammerfist to the top of the head is nice too.

The live punch has led to 3 KO's for me in real life fights and 2 KO's in training fights. Liver punch hurts like you have never been hurt before.

Heart punch has won me 2 real life fights. Both were first strike KO's. Only took one hit. Both guys told me later that it felt like I stopped their heart for a second and snatched the breath right from their lunges.

Yes, I fight a lot. I made the discussion a long time ago to not back down. Letting others try to hurt you is just to dangerous.

As with you, I love to "Spar". Although I would bet I spar harder than most. You prolly wouldn't like sparing with us if you are a stickler for rules.

The only rules are to stop when your opponent is out, tapping, or submits.

We frown on nut shots and knees to the head when your opponent is down. Those moves are likely to to get your butt kicked by the rest of us.

Its just that I hate it when I do light contact sparring and someone hits you hard in your belly. Or when i'm punching my lightest then someone says 'your quiet' or something else that they (think) would get me mad and make me punch harder (like breaking the rules hard).

I wouldn't have the guts to do that. I'm what most would call a 'nice person'.

I have a motuh pice, gloves, a head pad and boots. I also have no weight or height classes. I just choose a partner to spar with.

I go to an academy, but they pretty much accept anybody and if you start around age ten you would probably be a black belt by sixten or so. And real fights seem scary. -trembles-

Yeah, I know what you mean. I have a little girl in my MA class. Shes nice, but I still wouldn't underestimate her.

I am not really doing MA for the macho thing, heh does any girl do that anyway? I do it mainly to relax, have fun and after all these years becouse of the friends i met there. But thats just me isnt it? However that doesn't mean that I am not up to sparing any time. Wink
