Plz post if anyone know a good youtube downloader , which let you download videos into avi/mpeg/mp4 formats
A good youtube downloader ?
And as I've suggested before, you could look into an online FLV converter, such as Vixy.net...
http://tubecodes.com - They should have gotten sued by now.
You don't even need a program for that
http://vixy.net/
http://vixy.net/
Vixy is one of the best ones out there.
I have used Vixy many times and it is the best one I have come across. I hope our suggestions have helped.
Does somebody know if it is possible to download videos from other site except youtube and googlevideo with vixy?
KeepVid.com downloads videos from pretty much any site, but it keeps them in FLV format.

As someone mentioned the best solution is: keepvid.com to save video as flv, and Batch Flv Converter: http://www.ripzor.com/flvconverter.html to convert flv file to avi, mpeg.
If You Have Firefox Use The Video Downloader Plugin Or Use Vixy One Of Them 2 And After Just Use media-convert.com To Convert Them For Free!

I use firefox with the videodownloader extension... it saves it in .flv format and then you can convert to any other format.
Yeah, same here. I use the video downloader extension with firefox. Basically, it picks it up from its roots, the flv. Then you can use a convertor to convert it to anything that you need. I use it for ipod vids...works well./.
I think the newest real player 11 or something can download youtube videos. I didnt try out though but I think I heard and saw it somewhere that it can.
it is a pity that vixy.net doesn't work for me...
I don't know why??????????
keepvid.com is great.

The site is often too busy, and doesn't work. Try it at different times of the day. But I too have recently installed the above mentioned video downloader firefox extension, which is much better than vixy.net.
I have like 10 youtube vids on my ipod by using 3 things... including itunes.

keepvid is the best
I use KeepVid.com as well, and use SUPER to convert them into other formats, such as MP4 (for my iPod). It's simply....well, SUPER!

Try out Ook Video for Mozilla Firefox extensions. It does all the tricks for you. And for playing FLV, try to google FLV players. There are numerous freewares around for that.
you can use the free flv downloader to download flv files, and you can use Moyea FLV to Video Converter to convert flv to videos, I always use it, it works well.
vixy looks gr8
thanks for the link
thanks for the link
I personally love Wondershare Youtube downloader (The link is www.wondershare.com ) if I remember correctly. It is well-designed, very user-friendly, easy to use and also has a lot of features. Just give it a try, I am sure you will love it
But if you don't want a program, then Vixy is a good one, I used to use their service before I grabbed the free version of Wondershare Youtube Downloader.

Since I'm looking for FREE sw, first (and almost only), the FLV converter is out.
Are there any other free FLV converters?
Super does this, but I haven't used it yet (still converting AVI files, slowly)
Super is free. But it doesn't give the same 4/3 conversion ration that the FLV file seems to have, so I'm not sure which of 5:4 or 11:9 to choose.
A Super tutorial would be nice...
But my plan is to grab ... Naruto from youtube in English, or maybe from bitTorrents, and burn them on DVDs to watch.

No reason to use FLV > AVI converter, just use Media Player Classic that can handle it.
When you are surfing the Internet, you are to encounter funny videos from time to time on the video sharing sites, such as YouTube, Music, Myspace, Metacafe, Google Video, iFilm, Dailymotion, etc. It must be made clear that the videos posted on these public sites are all in the FLV file format. The FLV is a proprietary file format for publishing videos online. It offers high rates of compression, facilitating online delivery.
Moyea FLV to Video Converter Pro allows users to convert FLV to DVD, specifically, to convert FLV downloaded from YouTube, Myspace, etc, to MPEG-encoded DVD files for playback on the DVD players to share with your friends or family. This is how:
1. Launch the program, you can import the source FLV files into the program by following the on-screen instructions. Then you can see the effect of the particular source FLV files in the Preview Panel on the right side of the File List on the interface.
2. Settings
Click on the Settings tab, and you can proceed to set the parameters of the end video file. Select MPEG for the Export Type, and NTSC DVD/PAL DVD for Sub-type. The Frame Size of the DVD file format has been pre-configured by the program to cater to different resolutions.
Besides the export type, you can set other parameters, including the frame rate, bit rate, etc.
When you have completed the settings, you can save the favorite settings in the Profile box.
3. Convert
Click on the Convert tab, and you can proceed to encode the desired DVD file. Then you can put the video on your DVD and enjoy it on TV.

Well normally one would want to save a file after watching, so why download it again? when its already there in your temp internet folder, you just have to copy, paste ...change extension to .flv and play in VLC media player works fine.
You can usually get the url for the flv file from the activity window of most browsers.

Hmm didn't think about it before but worth to try. how do you find the fine in Temp ?
How to find a .flv file in your Windows cache/Temporary Internet Files folder:
Go to C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5
Inside the above folder, you should see some folders named with random letters & numbers.
Whatever you've downloaded from the 'net or looked at on a webpage should be in those folders.
My method for finding a particular file you've downloaded is to sort all of the files in those individual folders by certain criteria, depending on what you're looking for.
If you're looking for videos, programs or MP3's, they're obviously gonna be pretty large in filesize.
So, sort by size.
--> Right-click in a Windows Explorer folder --> "Arrange Icons" --> by Size
If you were paying attention to the time when you were downloading a file and have multiple files in multiple folders with the same name and closely related in size, (ex. YouTube videos are all named "getvideo(1), getvideo(2), etc... with no file extension), then sort by date.
The easiest way to change the sorting method in a folder is to view all of the files in a folder using the "Details" view.
---> In a Windows Explorer folder, on the top toolbar, go up to "View" --> Details
Once you're sure you've got the file you want, copy & paste it on the Desktop so it's easy for you to work with it.
Make sure you've got Windows Explorer set to display file extensions, so you'll know what you're adding or changing.
---> In a Windows Explorer folder, on the top toolbar, go up to "Tools" --> Folder Options --> View tab --> Uncheck the box that says "Hide file extensions for known file types."
A super-easy way to show or hide a file's extension is by installing this handy-dandy Shell Extension known as FileExtToggle (119k)
Then there's also the same super-easy way of showing or hiding hidden files with HiddenFilesToggle (119k)
After all of that, you've just got to add/change the file extension of those files that you KNOW are videos to .flv
Go to C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

Thats what I use, and its never failed me. Also VLC works very nicley as a trans-coder to convert the FLV file to mpeg so other people can view it more easily.
If you need to Media Convert works very nicely for converting FLV files to other formats too.

Only you need is to put the address of the video which you want to download in this website
