The poisoned dog food episode has a sequel now: There are deadly chemicals in toothpaste made in China.
This is not included in the article and needs to be confirmed, but I've heard that several people in Brazil have died from using this toothpaste.
So, if you have some toothpaste made in china in your cabinet, think twice about using it.

I can't believe China is EXPORTING toothpaste.
On a similar note. I heard a story a while back about some country in Europe or America making toothpaste for the Chinese. Instead of flavoring it with mint, they use Ginger and Green Tea.
I'd like to give that toothpaste a try.
Yeah, shouldn't they be focused on their population's hygeine?
Most of their population eats a bowl of rice a day so they would probably eat the toothpaste Soulfire....
I was being a Jackass as usual.
Eating a fish head is a big deal over there. They are in their industrial revolution so all their good stuff is exported to people who can afford it. This is a normal stage, but sadly in many places such as China, the progress made in this stage is absorbed by corrupt leaders.
Tooth paste ?? Poisonous ??
I have heard china exporting Electronic Items - Sugar - Cotton - Steel - Coal, and many more consumer durables too.
But this is the first time i hear China exporting Tooth Paste.
And one thing i dont understand is - This article has not confirmed anything - But has asked to stop using or throwing the tooth pastes labeled as "Made in China". But this is too much as no reports of confirmation.
If anybody is lukin for any good tooth paste - Whether it is natural or herbal or approved good tooth pastes, then Look into having Business Initiatives and parterships with India. We have a large pool of varieties that people prefer.
Keep Smiling
Hey Indianinworld, just to give you a hand with your economics vocabulary, durables are things that last, like cars, computers, and a cookware set. Consumer items or consumables, I think, describes toothpaste.

I don't think he ever called toothpaste a "durable".

"too" is equivalent to "also." Having mentioned toothpaste directly prior to its use, one assumes the intended meaning is, "Electronic Items - Sugar - Cotton - Steel - Coal, and many more consumer as well as toothpaste."
His third sentence clears this up somewhat. However, naming several durable goods as he did comparing them to another good logically implies that it is a durable good.
Regardless,
Non of these, except for electrical items, are 'durables' by the definitions I am familiar with, mainly the one used in economics where it is used to describe items that last for years and are not purchased on a regular basis.
-Also- I only corrected it because indianinworld's writing is pretty good already.
Since you started correcting indiana jones I would like to joing in by saying "Yo, maybe you could use commas instead of dashes!" -- Ok, that was all.
Anyways down here in Suriname they sell a chinese toothpaste called MAXAM. Here "Chinese" products have a reputation of "bad quality" and "cheap". Everything chinese that you find in local stores are directed entitled by the people as "counterfeits" and "fakes".
Anyways, back to the toothpaste talk -- COLGATE FOR ME!!!
hmmm this sounds scary... but I doubt any tooth paste over here is made in China... but who knows :S
My household's new motto is "don't buy anything Chinese" that you put on your body or in your mouth.
Even if they don't specifically make it, they could have made the chemicals or produced some ingredient in anything.
Don't ever buy the fish products from there. Poisonous, polluted waters. Tastes bad too.
I use baking soda for toothpaste, and it works really well! It costs much less than buying commerical toothpaste, wastes fewer resources (no packaging boxes and plastic wrap and plastic tubes to dispose of), and means you only have to worry about one ingredient being contaminated. :)
I've been using baking soda for about a year now and am glad I made the switch.

i think today everything has a chinese flaver
No one died in Brazil by using a simply toothpaste.
First, we produce the major part of this industry that we consume.
Second, i don't even know if there's a chinese toothpaste with a significative part in the brazilian market.

Yes !!!
GM Fruit & Veg just like most of the world !!!!
What do you eat ??
^ I suppose you mean Genetically Modified...
GM is a bit vague, though: it could also mean:
*General Merchandise
*General Market
*General Motors (This was the first to pop into my head)
MM better check my cabinet, or to be on the safe side just throw away toothpaste and eat a bunch of apples (and hope my teeth don't fall out)
Not just toothpaste....

The import alert posted by the government says DEG has been improperly used in a variety of sedatives, syrups and cough medicines worldwide. Most recently, a cough syrup containing DEG resulted in more than 40 deaths in Panama last September.
The alert says the agency found DEG in three products manufactured by Goldcredit International Trading in China. The products are Cooldent Fluoride, Cooldent Spearmint and Cooldent ICE. Analysis of the products revealed they contained between 3 percent and 4 percent DEG. |

Lol I just checked all the toothpastes in my bathroom, none were made in China.
Crazy stuff.
Jeez, if so, how about so many Chinese people? they all use domestic toothpast, anyone died or be sick?
like a hen with one chicken
It maybe that there are toothpastes from china that make you sick but please don't discriminate them. not all of toothpaste products from china is contaminated. If im not mistaken there are two brands that are contaminated. instead of including all products, just name the contaminated one.
It's not only toothpaste and things you consume that you need to be cautious about. Recently, in the merry old land of Oz, a huge recall of China-made blankets had to happen because the blankets contained unsafe levels of formaldehyde. Apparently it is used to soften artificial fabrics, although using it for this purpose is heavily restricted/banned in many countries. Scarier still, the blankets were being imported by Sheridan, a leading brand.
I think you have to be wary about importing anything from a country which doesn't have the same standards as your own country - everything from food to furniture. It's also very hard to tell if someone is trying to cheat you by cutting corners (or simply don't know any better) when they're halfway around the world!
Any why the people in China are not dying because of their own toothpaste. I think this is about marketing that other companies want to do against China.
I've been traveling to China many times because I have some business there, and never die (hell yeah I'm still here typing this) because of their toothpaste that they put in the hotel bathroom. And I believe Chinese people
The main ingredient in toothpaste is - china clay.
It's highly appropriate that China should make and export toothpaste!

That's something real you've said. Anyone gains some insight should easily figure out the trade war between the US and China. The US tried all means to ban televisions made in China before as well, but unfortunately not much success. Now that they picked one or two toothpaste brands that under qualification, using it as a powerful reason to tell all americans to throw away toothpaste made in China -- clearly another item to ban about, only smaller. I don't know how those unqualified toothpaste got imported/exported, but I know they don't stand for all toothpaste manufacturers in China. Now FDA has everything to do with toothpaste, but nothing with televisions, much less all televisions made in China are of good quality. There are also many other barriers set for other items, like textiles etc, just anything exported. Once your opponent grabs a product appears not so flawless, goes without saying that it is a good opportunity for them to strike back.
Imported by an American company, or a Chinese company with an American division.
Either way, it is the responsibility of the importing organisation to ensure that any products it imports meet the standards of the country into which they are being imported. Where was this quality control?
Once again, it would seem, America shoots itself in the foot then tries to make someone else responsible.
Having said that - the Chinese manufacturers have been less than ethical in making such a product.
Well as a neighbour to China I can only say be careful of products made in China, especially food. Just don't buy anything at an abnormally low price.
And about toothpaste...I've tried green tea. It's horrible. It's like chewing a whole lotta raw green tea leaves with sugar and mint without swallowing it. shudders
maybe its just a portion of the production is affected. Toothpaste are manufactured by batch i believe that's why there is a Manufactured date and expiration date on it. Maybe FDA should release a detailed document against the product. There should have been a major cases deaths assuming that the toothpaste has poisonous elements from the start. Chinese people are scattered all over the world in fact there's a Chinese Town in most of the major Cities and it is possible that these towns sells the same brand or the same type of toothpaste.
got my point?
I hope.
I'm just thinking aloud.
