I prefer Geneva, Tohama, Times New Roman, Serif, Arial and 2 more i forgot the name. (Most of these are websafe). I you say i will provide a detailed article on it.

Any font you get from a normal, newly fresh installation of Windows are web safe fonts and are the best to use. I prefer Trebuchet MS because it looks clean and nice and Century Gothic for large title fonts, because it stands out and is very nice.
You can use almost any font though, because now you can start embedding font files into websites, or even convert text into images with the font you want using web codings like PHP.

use standard fonts, don't want a site build up with images.. aint the 20th century anymore
