I have to say, although they're not my favourite band, they're pretty damn close.
Why?
Probably they have some of the most meaniful lyrics out there. It's not hard to hear the political messages in their music.
Opinions?
They're really good, Tom Morello is insane with the sounds he can make with that guitar. Today's Hendrix, I swear to god.
I've liked Guerilla Radio for a long time, and as well I really like Bulls on Parade and Killing in the Name. But Testify is my current favorite.
I like a fair bit of their stuff, but mostly off their self titled album.
I also don't entirely agree with all their political messages, but I agree with one of Tom's quotes, somewhat:
America touts itself as the land of the free, but the number one freedom that you and I have is the freedom to enter into a subservient role in the workplace. Once you exercise this freedom you've lost all control over what you do, what is produced, and how it is produced. And in the end, the product doesn't belong to you. The only way you can avoid bosses and jobs is if you don't care about making a living. Which leads to the second freedom: the freedom to starve.
There's definitely a bit of a socialist agenda right there, which doesn't do anything for me
. But I read also a point that once you're a part of modern society in any developed nation, you lose the freedom to run your own life.
i only like a few songs from them like Guerilla radio
i dont really have any problems with their lyrics
I like them because of their music.
But their meaningful lyrics are little bit abusing of hating politics.
meh rage were amazing in their day. i used to love em as a hormone filled naive child but most of the points put across in many of rage's songs can be purely childish and ill informed. admitedly this is not always the case and i am sure most of their message was truly heartfelt although i cant help but feel that there was a large amount of labels saying "well just be a bit more anti government cos well it sells to the kids yeah!" which is lame. meh the music industry is a sad fickle business.

hmmm most meaningful im not sure you can say something has more meaning than something else. most meaningful to a person yes but most meaningful as a whole doesnt exist as what is meaningful to me may mean nothing to you and well there are many many bands out there who use deeper meanings to their tracks. For example a silver mt zion are hugely meaningful and political and without wanting to sound arrogant but they seem more for the elders. A silver mt zions political ideas are much less childish in the sense that they are not
"****** you, ****** this, ****** the sstem, ****** everything, i am free and therefore i am right etc etc guerilla eugh!" whicvh lets face it is silly. Rage love to portray the image of democracy and equality but lets be honest by fighting the system and supporting extremist movements its basically making a joke of their own argument. I prefer the silver mt zion route of
"well no actually we dont see it fit to make more of a profit than we need therefore we will simply not sell tshirts or merch and we will do what we can to help situations"
anyone else see rage saying they wouldnt sell tees because they didnt need the profit. "wooo freedom and peace and maybe a sly large amount of profit we will keep for ourselves just in case we run out when our new bands fail!" hmmmmmmmmmm
Guerilla Radio mate, that song goes soooo hard. I have a fair few songs of mine, but my personal favourite at the moment is Disturbed, i saw them live here in Australia and they worked the crowd alot alot better then the accompanying band, which was funnily enough KORN.
can only agree with you.. very good band, been listening to them for several years!
Rage Against the Machine? Hell yeah! Awesome band, great music. So glad they are on guitar hero haha
Did they returned from the ashes?
I hope so
Rage against the machine is one of my favourite bands and Tom Morello one of my favourite guitar players
I listened to Battle of Los Angeles for a while. They were really great back in the late 90's. Have they come out with anything recently?
Honestly.. I hate there music.. I don't understand really whats good about there music
I don't like political lyrics. I don't think that a rockband is good for spreading political information. Reading newspaper for example shoulde be the better way. But I liked their music when I was younger.

I do not agree. Since rock was born, it has been used against the system many times... and there are lots of rock-metal bands which use political lyrics, not only rage against the machine
Yeah, they are really good, I like(even love
) them, because of their music and also lyrics. Few songs are awsome, I like Killing in the Name, Renegades of Funk....., ........
F*ck the police was interesting version from the band,I don't really listen to them but have they made anything new lately??
Im more into the spaced out side of rock music
orb,ozrics,gong....etc
But I always give my time to the new comers...
Rage Agains The Machine is great, it was one of my favourites bands...their lyrics are great, also the musik and Rochas voice is great!
I really hope they get back together. There was a tour but I'm not entirely sure they'll reform. RaTM was definitely better than Soundgarden and Audioslave but they have a few good songs. Chris Cornell's soloing is terrible.
A fantastic band for sure. I always love watching the end of The Matrix when 'Wake Up' kicks in - a fantastic music choice for that movie, and a brilliant end to an amazing film.

I agree.Maybe it's the best part of the movie.
Learnt to play Rage Against the machine song prob about 15 years ago
So good can still play it now
I saw them in concert in an arena, and they were friggin awesome. I have never seen that place as packed as when they played. The crowd was insane, and the entire floor level turned in to one giant mosh pit. It was one of the best concerts I have ever been to, which is saying a lot based on the number of concerts I have been to over my lifetime.
Rage Againts The Machine is one of the best bands around the world!
Freedom!
No other song would have worked at the end of Matrix
That's a great bit of music.
Awesome band, although I do like Audioslave better.
Yes for sure is one of my favourites bands, all that sound mix with good lyrics, just explosive. RATM!
