I find its easier just to plug into the AUX input - which most car stereos these days have.

If yours doesnt, though, an FM transmitter would probably be a good idea.

I have this one: http://www.acris.pl/produkt.jsp?pid=11267

Works perfect, because player is few meters from antena. Only one disadvantage: headphones must be plugged in to increase receive range.

I'd recommend buying one with more than 3 or 4 frequency settings. The first one I bought only had settings for 88.1,88.3,88.5, 88.7 on FM dial.
I kept picking up other broadcasts over top of mine. Annoying.
Ended up getting one that broadcasts to over 200 stations. You can pick them up on ebay and they look similar to this one.

My cd changer used to have FM transmission for the signal, till I finally bought the Pioneer cord. The FM transmission did cause a slight fuzziness, and was quieter than if I had used a cd, but on the other hand, it worked very well for the money that was spent. My friend has one for his Ipod, and it works great. He bought the actual Apple accessory. Personally I have a Microsoft Zune, and am trying to justify spending the money on the FM transmitter for the Zune. I already have an MP3 CD receiver.
