Overclock Celeron D, no bios options

sunjay
hi,

I was just wondering if there is anyway to overclock my Celeron D 330 2.66ghz.

My mobo is an Asus P4VP-MX, a cheapo mobo that does not allow any overclock options.

So now i'm wondering if there are any hardware options? Anyone know any links etc.

The other day, my friend told me that i could probably overclock the celeron if i short certain pins in the socket. Is that true?

I would be very cautious about altering anything on the CPU or motherboard socket (this is the sort of thing that voids warranties). Plus, if something goes wrong, you've potentially destroyed your CPU and/or motherboard. My advice is to explore all other options first (eg. try updating the BIOS to the latest version - but be careful, for if something goes wrong, you motherboard may not work).

Most pre-built systems have BIOS which dun have overclocking options. I opened my BIOS on my HP and Sony comp, and they both dun haf such options. It would be much easier if you would do overclocking on a non-prebuilt comp.
