I am up for a majority consensus here....
can anyone change his/her own destiny?
how would you know your destiny?
can you prove that you have change your destiny? how?
given an instance in your life, how is it possible to change your destiny?
For a person like, I think no one change destiny.. Destiny is not for us to see or reveal but for us to be.. No one knows the future yet we are so presumptous to think we can sense it yet we cant. Destiny is not predestined. It is the destined path for us..
I would rather not think about having a destiny, and not actually having control. That seems pretty bleak.
For me destiny is a pre-defined course of events...so if that is actually the case you would not be able to change your destiny as it was all layed out before you were ever born. It's said that you can change your destiny by missing a bus, or even by not picking up the phone...but if it were all planned out before hand it would have been your destiny to miss that bus or not take that phone call.
Speaking strictly for myself, I prefer not to believe in destiny...I'm not comfortable with the thought that the entire course and events of my life have been pre-planned...and I have no control over them.
Yes, we are all free agents able to make our own choices. So choose wisely.
If the universe were governed strictly by Newtonian mechanics, then it seems as if an entity with perfect knowledge of its initial state and the laws and parameters which govern the behavior of bodies could perfectly know the state of things at any time in the future.
But taking quantum effects into consideration, we see that this is impossible.
Heisenberg's uncertainty principle states, to my understanding, that it is impossible to know both the position and the momentum of a particle beyond a certain threshold. something like delta(s)*delta(p) >= h-bar/2*pi.
If this constraint holds true, which it seems to, then it is impossible to determine future events perfectly, given the knowledge we have about the current state of things.
There is plenty of room for the devil, and our freedom to choose, to hide within these details.
If there is an expert on Heisenberg's uncertainty principle in the house that can elaborate or correct my mistakes, that would be great!

Uwe
Exactly.. even I'd prefer to believe that my life is in control.. and that there's no such thing as destiny... Everyone, actually, likes to feel, think that they have their life under their control...
I don't believe we can change our destiny.
If, for example, I was a poor person. Then I'd think that my destiny is to be poor. And let's say I do something to become rich, and I'd think that I've changed my destiny to become rich. But I don't think that's true.
It just meant that my destiny was to be rich.
Whatever our choices and our decisions, I think our lives are written somewhere, and that when we think we're changing it, we're not. It was written that we'd make such a decision.
