Here in the UK I belive football and footballers have become to expensive.
All the major clubs charge so much a family of say four have to be verry wealthy to go to a match.
On top of that the cost of travel has to added and train fairs are going up!
Wages for players is now all telephone number figures, for playing what is supposed to a game!
I agree here in Seattle its like 50.00 to goto a game, 12.00 for the train, or 20.00 to park.
Ah. entertainment in general is pretty expensive. Parking, tickets. TICKETS' FEES... so much to pay just to watch a show
The solution? Go to watch your local team (unless of course that is a Premier League team!). Most people are within a 5 or 10 minute walk of a football match on a Saturday. The majority are free of charge. And those that aren't will only charge around £5 for entry to a match. Okay, it may not be the Premiership, but you'll see players who play for very little, simple the love of the game, putting their heart and soul into winning the match.
Plus you get to stand up! More fans are sorely needed in the lower leagues - get yourself down to your local club and show your support, you might be surprised!
In poland it's cheaper (much) ... but our Stadions ... hmm our stadions SUX
But there is a hope - Euro 2012
I hope, that this event will make our football better and the cash which we spend for "show" will be worth of it (I'm not talking about Euro games but about games after E2012 ... our 1st league) ...
and think it's just a dramatization is the real kicker. One of you referred to it as entertainment, which is exactly how you should perceive the game. Professional sports are for kids and businessmen. They have no more credibility than professional wrestling. Save your money and do something more wholesome. You'll feel better about it, trust me.
Pieman you are right!
they play football not only for the money...
