Words such as materials; pencils, books, etc. I want to learn conversational spanish. The only words I know that are conversational are:
Me llamo es Mark.

Well, that's how you start out with most languages in classrooms. Then, grammar kicks in a little later in the year. If you want to go for full out learning the grammar of a language right off the bat, then try a book. It's going to be harder than learning it in a classroom by a longshot, though. There was also this government funded site that allows you to download tape based lessons in a few languages including Spanish IIRC.

Me llamo es mark? That's wrong, you should say Me llamo Mark. If you wanna learn conversational spanish i think you must try with somebody in a bar or pub, drink and let it flow...

what i've noticed from students my age taking foreign languages such as spanish, the teachers teach their students a spanish a little different from what the common spanish speaker knows. little did you know, i.e. mexico and el salvador have different spanishes, some words are modded and twisted. weird. but yeah, i dont even understand some of the shit that our high school teachers teach the kids, its some kinda bogus spanish shit haha. I am perfectly fluent in both english and spanish so if you have any questions feel free to ask me and i'll be glad to help you Smile

yep I suggest you:

- contact someone in your town who speaks Spanish, and do a language exchange (your mother tongue for Spanish)

- enroll a course on Spanish and do the exchange as well

- meet a partner who is Spanish speaking Wink

Actually what I mean is that yes... you could get some help here and there... online... on the phone... and so on. But, nothing is so effective with languages (and with any other thing which has to do with the mind, the body or both as most common...) than DOING.

This is why I encourage you and everyone to take it serious and enroll a course and above all, PRACTICE. It is only practice which will give you skills. Theory is fun but it is useless unless you can prove it yourself.

Hugs!

Usually language teachers start with the most basic words and grammar structures, so you can progess with time.

In the sentence you wrote, I think there are two mixed sentences, both meaning the same: "Mi nombre es Mark" y "Me llamo Mark".

Stick to your language course, they give you the basics, and BTW my native language is spanish. If you want to try some conversational sentences in this forum, I can help you if you want.
