How To Change The World?

The-Nisk
Okay, so we all heard that there are a lot of things wrong in this world,
Wars, crime, violence, hate, suffering, hunger etc.
Almost all of them are our deeds.
But there are other things, which I concider factors for the biger things.
Like why do certain people feel bad about themselves waking up and sometimes goin to sleep? Why do we get on so badly with each other?
Even in our relationships, most of us think of what to say before we say it to achieve the right effect, where's honesty? speaking your mind out?
being open minded to new Ideas and thought?
Why does our culture uses other people to gain wealth (in businesses) and not doing any honest hard work themselves?
Like simple usung other people!
well, I could go on for ages, but I will leave it up to you to reply with your thoughts and hopefully we will have a fascinating argument on this issue Smile
Cheers!

most of the world is sitll in its dark ages. governments / religious authorities do not give full power to the people (which power should not be given to the people anyway unless they are guaranteed an education).

so personally i think that it's education that is the problem.

I read that it is only needed 5% of the population to get things to be different. To really change something can't be that hard then?

I think perhaps they way to start is by starting to change yourself first...

Then the most of our old religions have to be rearranged to be more up to date.

"save the cheerleader, save the world!" I am sorry but I just couldn't resist that one!! Very Happy [its a thing from the TV show, Heores] On a more serious note I think that change needs to come from within before change can occur from the outside. Self-change that results from deep reflection and introspection allows one to better understand himself and where he functions in the larger macroscopic system. Therefore I believe that when you get to know your true-self only then can you help to spread your convictions and values in a manner that will be accepted and embraced by others. For example if you truly know that helping people via some method of community service is for you, then when you embark on this task with utmost resolve and conviction you will achieve resulsts and others around you will become much more inspired. This will then propogate outwards and more and more people will become self-aware and motivated. Well at least that is what I believe to be true. Very Happy

I think that the most effective way to save the world is if everyone does their little bit. I feel strongly against the cruelty of animals and think that its terrible that so many animals are endangered. If everyone became a peaceful person then the world would be such a better place. As it is the polar ice caps are melting, polar bears will die. There used to be over 50 subspecies of wolf and now there is 13 and only about 5 of them are protected. The rest are endangered and almost extinct. I love wolves and maybe in the future i will protect them and ensure that no more subspecies become extinct.
odinstag
The only way the world will be a better place is when people stop whining about how bad it is.

There is little wrong with the world. War, not exclusively human. Hunger, happens when there is not enough food.

You named nothing that we as people have control over. Try to fix any of these so-called problems and you create another. Why?

Because you are trying to change things instead of dealing with things as they are and making the best out of them.

This need to control and fix everything is the only problem.

Well put Odin!

Nothings gonna change if we argue about how, when, where to change it. We need to do what we love, pursue it, and see what happens in the end.

Human beings are animals and they need to realize they are such. Animals are not perfect and the will never be. Humans are the dominant animal on this planet that can do stuff like communicate and create technology. Until the dominant race is a peaceful herbivore or an inorganic robot life will never be perfect.

So there is no real problem and we should just forget about helping anyone outside of ourselves?

This kind of hedonistic reasoning for greed is precisely why the 666'ers are on the verge of destroying the soul of this species.

Use your mind, just like how Neo does......

If you've never seen a movie called "Pay it Forward", it would be perfect for this thread. This boy's whole concept was to do a really huge favor for 3 people, something they couldn't do for themself. These 3 would then do the same kind of favor for 3 other people, and so on, and so on.

I think we just lack the will, humanity has the ability to be both incredibly evil and on the other end very good. We hear the most about the really good and the really bad but the ones that lie in the middle are the worst of all because they don't attempt to do anything, I mean how many people are out there trying to put an end to the situation in Darfur? or Afghanistan or Iraq or Israeli/Pallestine or looking at the plight of Tibetans in China? How many of us really pay attention to these problems and pressure politicians to do anything? The truth is besides a select group of dedicated people not a majority of us, not without some sort of catalyst putting it on the front page and not if it doesn't affect us longer than a few days. I mean I doubt the majority of people thought about terrorism until a few years ago when it suddenly presented itself as a major problem in the world.

Maybe if we weren't all sat behind our computers talking about changing the world and instead going out into the world and doing something positive for someone else then the world would be a better place...

Thought is the culprit behind it all, stop Thought and go/don't go from there...
EanofAthenasPrime
Thought may be the problem, but it is also the solution. Until we change the actual thought structures of the human brain, life will never be perfect. And to change the thought structures, you need a computer, or similar technology. You can't just expect to make a cyborg, or just take a brain it and modify without an interface GUI or program. Attempting to make total peace is a futile attempt and before that can actually occur the human brain needs to be modified greatly.

Do you mean change the molecules which constitute the brain?

Perfect?

I don't feel that at all, that we need computers or technology where the human brain is concerned...

Thought isn't the solution...no, i don't see that...
