TRURO CITY
3-1 at Wembley!!!
Anyone at all heard about this match outside of Truro, Cornwall. We won the FA Vase! woo!
I think the FA Vase is a fantastic competition - one of the few things the English FA have got right! It gives the little guys a chance of playing on the big stage and winning a national competiton.
Nice to see two different teams competing as well (AFC Sudbury have been in the final for a few years in a row). I have a liking for Bridlington Town, a local non-league club in my area. They reached the final of the Vase in 1990, but lost in a replay, and then won it in 1993.
For those who don't know, the competition is for teams at Levels 9, 10 and 11 of the English league pyramid system, who have a good enough ground. There were 489 entries into this season's competition, so it's almost on a par with the FA Cup in that respect. Many of these teams can't enter the FA Cup - but most of them do, so these competitions (gate receipts etc.) can really boost a club's finances.
