avi problem
It can be damaged or maybe you don't have the right Codex.
I've encountered a similar problem before with MPEG-4 video (DivX, XviD, etc). Some videos made with older codecs don't play well with all software. If you know the file isn't corrupted, then I suggest changing the software you use to play it. Try VLC Media Player - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/. If you're trying to edit it, you probably need better software than Windows Movie Maker.
The audio and video tracks in the file are skewed. Open the video file using VirtualDub (get it from sourceforge) and it will tell you that the audio is skewed by <xyz> milliseconds. Save the audio track as a WAV. Open the file again in VirtualDub, under the Audio Menu choose Source -> WAV file and choose your WAV. Under 'Compression', choose MP3 (you need LAME) and be sure to convert it with constant bitrate.
Save the AVI.
Save the AVI.
Thank you for your help. It was the avi- codecs. I downloaded Vista Codec Pack, and then it worked..
