Hi Yahoo users,

A notification for one and all --- Embarassed

Quote:
"Yahoo Inc. is shutting down Yahoo Photos, its first-generation photo storage site, and asking users to move instead to Yahoo's Web 2.0 photo sharing site, Flickr, a Yahoo official said on Thursday."

In next month, tens of millions of registered users of Yahoo Photos will be notified of various options including upgrading to Yahoo's Flickr service or various outside-photo storage sites, according to Flickr co-founder Stewart Butterfield.

Yahoo also will offer consumers the option of loading their photos on competing sites when users are notified by next month.

Good for them. I don't trust Yahoo anyway, and never trusted. Not necessarily anti-Yahoo but... just not associated with it... and don't care.

Yahoo Photos will be shut down by the fall. Users will be directed over a three-month period to transfer their images to Flickr or other photo sites such as Shutterfly, Kodak Gallery, Snapfish or Photobucket. Yahoo says it will make the transition easy, with a one-click transfer process.

Yahoo has said that it kept both services going after the acquisition because they appealed to different audiences. But Thursday, it said in a statement that Yahoo Photos was closing because of the changing nature of the Internet.

May be this information is somewhat helpful for you.

i don't knw if this is gd or bad for them but whatever they're doing...i hope it will turn out ok for them. they have been making changes to their whole website and this doesn't come as a surprise. all of their services are getting a makeover.

Its surely bad from my view as flickr is having alot of problems and more over all users of flickr are not satisfied with them and moving to other ones.
