Judge Sentences Hilton to 45 Days in Jail Very Happy
May 4, 8:33 PM EST

LOS ANGELES - A judge sentenced Paris Hilton to 45 days in county jail Friday for violating her probation, putting the brakes on the hotel heiress' famous high life.

Hilton, who parlayed her name and relentless partying into worldwide notoriety, must go to jail on June 5 and she will not be allowed any work release, furloughs, use of an alternative jail or electronic monitoring in lieu of jail, Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer ruled after a hearing.

The judge ruled that she was in violation of the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.

"I'm very sorry and from now on I'm going to pay complete attention to everything. I'm sorry and I did not do it on purpose at all," she told the judge before he announced the sentence.

She was then ordered to report to a women's jail in suburban Lynwood on the set date or face 90 days behind bars. The judge's ruling excluded her from paying to serve time in a jail of her choice, as some are allowed.

As a city prosecutor said during closing arguments that Hilton deserved jail time, Hilton's mother, Kathy, laughed. When the judge ruled, Kathy Hilton, then blurted out: "May I have your autograph?"

Paris Hilton was among a series of witnesses who took the stand during the hearing. She testified she believed her license was initially suspended for 30 days and that she was allowed to drive for work purposes during the next 90 days.

She said that when an officer who stopped her in January made her sign a document stating her license was suspended, she thought he was mistaken and did not actually look at the document.

Also called to the stand was Hilton's spokesman, Elliot Mintz. Hilton and her attorneys characterized Mintz as a liaison between Hilton and her lawyers.

Mintz testified that to his knowledge Hilton did not drive during the 30-day period. He said he then advised her that he believed her license was no longer suspended.

The judge called Mintz's testimony worthless and expressed disbelief at Hilton's lawyers.

"I can't believe that either attorney did not tell her that the suspension had been upheld," the judge said.

She deserved it.

I love what her lawyer said afterwards. Something about it being ludicrus and over reactive or something I was just laughing my head off. Like I don't wish it on her as even though she is a stupid rich wh-re i don't mind her on the basis that there are many more annoying people in the world that i see everyday let alone some celebrity on the other side of the world.

I wonder if she'll make a TV show out of her 45 days in jail?

I guess she deserved some sobering up. A lesson might be learned.

I really don't think she can/will take 45 days in prison.

Finally somebody rich goes to jail.
I hate it how celebrities usually slip out of the justice system's hands. But obviously not Paris Hilton.

True.

It justs shows how very omnipotent celebrities feel. They can do what they want, when they want and how they want. Well, not anymore.

Although, I suppose that if she wasn't Paris Hilton, well known celebrity, Judge would have made it possible to pay money instead of going to jail. But, she wasn't, so he wanted to make sure she goes to jail.

Wow. I'm so happy at this... she finally got what she deserved. In a way though, it's just going to bring more attention to this already-over-attentionized (if that's even a word!) woman. She doesn't really need it.

But what really made me laugh is that her mom laughed -- and what she said. Hilarious.

Paris, welcome to the real world!

I m glad that she had what she deserved, no one should be above the law. HA!

You know that something really important is going on in the world when celebrities start making the head lines. It is quite the tested tool for misdirection of our nation. BBC will be bringing attention to the millions of oil money missing in iraq and fox will be like "what are you looking at that for? brittney going to have another baby!"

There is nothing that will happen at this point in time that won't help her career. If she gets out of going to jail that will help her. If she goes to jail then that will help her. It's amazing, is it the media's fault that there is such an interest in this girl? Does she realize what a joke that a lot of people consider her? Nothing personal against her, maybe she reminds me of an ex girlfriend I've had....creepy eyed and apathetic to things that are really important in life! Smile

That girl is so rich but so unhappy now thats the real question..
Avything she did doesnt seem like a happy girl is it she?

Paris Hilton is not going to jail. She's going for a bloody vacation. Won't be surprised if she's let out after a week because the jail might be full. Imagine letting a paedophile on those grounds (I know it will never happen, but still).

Well, any one else who commits the same crime also has to go to jail, what's so special about her going to jail? (Somewhere I heard that she's getting a special cell in a section for celebrities, so she won't be meeting any of the normal inmates, what she has done to deserve that I don't know...)
missdixy
Finally. Seems like she's been trying pretty hard to get thrown into jail for a while now....

I wonder why she messed up so much of her life. I mean almost have everything in life. Anyway, going to jail serves a lesson for her.

i've read from somewhere dont remember...her fans putting petition to stop her being sent to jail and this one particular girl looks a lot like paris. one commentor said that paris should ask her to be her double stunt jail timer...she even ask the "i'll be back" governor to spare her from jail time..to that extreme...and people said she's back to the real "SIMPLE LIFE" and another said if martha stewart can do her time in jail why not paris ????

are we going to see paris simple life in jail????
