i'm making films and want to ask people here , where i can put my short films for sale , have a nice day

Unless they are really good ones, I doubt that anyone would buy them. That's my opinion.

Well if you upload them to Youtube people and watch them, I seen people upload and get jobs such as Youtube user brookers. Or upload to revver and if enough people watch them you could get revenue

I know friends of mine have made money there. The films are amazing though. Look up Crazy Watto and Jedi Hunter.

I finished a documentary and am trying to sell it right now. It is hard work.

see www.americanscary.com.

Feel free to post questions and I'll see about answering.

You can sell your films anywhere.....the bigger question is will people buy them? See you need to approach film making a little differently. Most people say "I like to make skateboarding movies" and then go make them. However, if your audience thinks skateboarders are a bunch of punks, then it's going to be hard selling your stuff. You need to make something your audience likes......don't focus on yourself, focus on your audience. That's a big mistake people make, and if you want to actually make money at it, you need to think about it a little first. That said, you could probably try selling DVD's of you skateboarding stuff at the skateboarding shop in the local mall (if they give you permission to of course). Try selling your DVD's online on your website.....maybe put some of your stuff in local film festivals and such. If you are good and keep trying, eventually you will start to get recognition and make some money.

Alaskaman is right. If your intention is to make money then you need to consider your audience. Alot of the time on these kinds of forums people post videos saying "watch this its really funny" and most of the time its not, especially when its a video of their mates doing something funny. Comedy is the hardest thing to get right as what appears funny to one group of friends can often turn out to be not funny at all to the general masses.

If you are making documentary movies then it can be diffrent but again one must watch for bias. While its near impossible to make a doco without bias its easy to fall into the trap of it being too opinion based. Your opinion is one of many. A documenmtary should be informative and should raise questions but be easy enough to grasp.

Skate/bike/moto videos are even harder these days as everyone is making them and the market is flooded with them. The only way to sucess in this market is to either create something thats new and cutting edge with new styles or to know people directly in the industry.

Yup that's for sure. The good thing about video production now is that it is cheaper and just about anyone can get into it. The bad thing about video production now days is......it is cheaper and just about anyone can get into it. It was good for me because I only had to invest about 30 grand after I got out of TV school and got tired of working for peanuts for local TV stations....and with that 30 grand I was able to start my own video production company. On the other hand it was bad because about everyone and their brother now feels they can do videos as they can afford a camcorder and computer. So there is so much video out there, and quite frankly most of it sucks!!

So, if you are good, and can bring something new to it, go for it! But don't expect people to buy your videos if they are the usual stuff I've seen. Here in Alaska, I can't tell you how many times I've seen kids try to sell DVD's of their snowboarding "tricks"....and all the DVD's look like each other, there is nothing making any of them stand out. No story, no nothing, just some kids being crazy with a pounding music soundtrack to it....kind of pointless really. Be creative and new and you just may get somewhere! Good luck!

Try to make your footage reach skateboard companies and its managers.
If they like your job, probably they will call for you shoot some sessions.

And start to shoot some famous skateboard riders. You will have a video data bank, so either the rider as his sponsors can talk to you to use your material.

Yes, pudovkin is right. Only one thing I should add that let people know that you are doing this beside doing what pudovkin said. Otherwise your footage will only be in garbage and I am sure you don't want them to be in garbage. Smile

Before people even think about buying it, before thinking how good the trailer was. They'll think how professional it was. Lets face it, even if your video is great but has to many long shots, breaks the 180 degree rule billions of time and is poorly edited people will be less inclined to buy it then if it looked professional, even if the video's storyline wasn't as good as a no professional video.

Google Video used to (and still has last time I checked) a great feature for charging people for the whole film, it works by using Paypal I think - mind you like mentioned above it would have to be something special.

I make skateboarding videos. Thats what I love to do. Its difficul to sell videos.-
videoguy
post one of your videos and we will tell you if it is good. watch other skateboarding films, and try to emulate what they do, what makes their video better than the rest. alot of it is in how professional it looks. get a tripod, ect. get artistic shots, be different, dont make it like a new shot it.

I'm also making movies, but I don't sell them. I think that you should use youtube or something like this to promote yourself or your film group. You must be famous to sell movies.

But are you shooting pros? If yes, you can try to sell (or trade) on skateboard companies that sponsor those skateboarders you shot.
