Well, I just learned about sun dogs in my physics class and have a few questions. If you want some quality information on sun dogs I recommend http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_dogs. However, I need to know who and why are they named sun dogs? If anyone can answer this question thanks ahead of time

Sun Dogs got the name because of their relationship to Egypt. Normally cats were revered, but with the sun god RA we see that they also bred dogs, like Sun Dogs.
...Ra was a bird-headed god. At the very least, he had one manifestation as a scarab. Where do you get the thing about dogs? Maybe you're thinking Anubis?
