NBA playoffs

Nerdlings
What do you think will happen in teh playoffs? I think the Pistons will come out of the East and the Spurs in the West. After that i don't know who would win that game. I found a good article on the playoffs http://www.usmansworld.com/?p=6
Hoogeveense RAT
I think Dallas will win it, because they've played a very good season, and now they will win the playoffs too.

Hopefully can LA Lakers or Chicago also do a strong performance Smile.
fizzo
For me on the west it might be Phoenix or Dallas then on the east a battle of Detroit and Cavs.. But im routing for Detroit and Chicago... Golden State Warriors might have a chance of pulling one on Dallas and snapping that series.. I hope so.
Nerdlings
Yea the Warriors may pull of one of NBA's greatest upsets ever. That is because their coach use to coach the Mavericks. They're also winning 1-0 now
mattchun
Trust me, Yao and Houston rules!
fizzo
Updates guys 1-1 Mavs Warriors.. Series tied today by the Mavs win at home.
This Playoffs has already been an upset for the Wizards and their Fans including me Gilbert Arenas is out for 2 months and Caron is also out the Wizards amazing Regular season output is done. Too bad!
fizzo
Anyways I don't know where to post this stuffs but this is the only thread i think I can post this.

The NBA is so popular and you heard a lot of Fantasy NBA Leagues, Im planning to build one, are their any guys wanna help me, I already have a site. Thanks!
Nerdlings
Yea I can join your fantasy league. I watch almost every single game I can but I don't have cable so they don't air every game. Well because of taht game Mavs are definetly going to win along with the Spurs.
ballinboy13
The NBA Playoffs have had some major surprises, mostly Golden State snatching game one from the Mavs. I had a feeling the Mavs would pick it up in game two and beat them, and they did just that. Also, everyone was making a big deal about the Spurs losing Game One. This is the Spurs, they are the best playoff team in recent history, I was not scared at all. They always seem to bounce back. The one series that is pissing me off is the Lakers-Suns series. I'm a Laker fan to death, and the way they've been playing this series just makes me not want to like this team. Horrible performance by them in game two, losing by 30 or something like that. They need to just give Kobe the ball and let him shoot, since it's the only thing that works for them I guess
Nerdlings
Ballin boy

Kobe is an offensive beast I can give you that. He just can't pull his whole team over Steve Nash, Stoudemire, Barbosa. Nash avges 11 assists per game. Think about that 11. He also averages more than 20 points per game.

So far that awesome blog article has been mostly correct!
Nerdlings
Update: Wow the Lakers actually beat the Suns. And the Jazz killed the Rockets what's up with that? Well at least the Pistons are now 3-0
Arseniy
Hmm, I'm actually felt out of the NBA action and figurated on NHL, so I'm starting to watch out from playoffs.
I support Phoenix Suns and Detroit Pistons. Both teams are going good, as I can see.
Golden State Warriors are "black horses", but they're impressive.
fizzo
Yeah unbelievable the Warriors won again today thats amazing. I think if the Warriors snatch this series they have the most will to WIN and coz its their first time for many years of drought on coming on the playoffs, they need to prove something.
slasonic
Sorry Miami fans. I cannot fathom how such a bunch of good players can get swept by the Bulls. I almost think they just wanted to lose. Especially that last quarter, Wade turned it over twice. Once was a back court steal.

It was good to see Pippen smiling on the sidelines, where the hell was Jordan. Will he show if they make it to the finals?

Miami will need to reconsider their entire offensive strategy. I'd look at the Lakers past "triangle" offense. Just replace Kobe with Wade. It's simple. Wade is a great player, which I why I couldn't understand what happened in this series.

I personally hope shaq will go ahead and retire. He's 37 and still can't hit a damn free throw. Shaq, shoot hook free throws, they might go in. They would have won the game if he and Mouring weren't 2-17 from the line. Even though I don't really like Miami, I'm angry that free throws were the difference between a W and an L.
TurkishGamer
I think its going to be Dallas Mavericks vs. Detroit Piston. Now I bet your saying , "yeah everybody thinks that", but I am going to say one more thing. I think the Utah Jazz also has a very good chance in getting to the finals.
fizzo
But Dallas is looking a bit shaky with the loss against the warriors last game...

But for me maybe a time for the Suns to be in the finals. with the Pistons thats what everybody expects and when amare got his injury it all falls down but now that his back they got a chance Pistons Suns finals hehe
budazz
i cant believe that miami heat is been sweep by the bulls........ second since 1957 bulls sweep the defending champion on 1st round of the playoff......
Nerdlings
Holy crud second round PIstons vs Bulls what do you think will happen? They both swept both of their teams and they both are good defensively. I want the Pistons to win, but they might lose. I even betted my friend that Pistons would win, but now I have doubts.

Warriors vs Mavericks
The Mavericks will still win it, because of Dirt Nowitzki. He wants everyone to see why he's MVP and step up his game.
romaop
My bet is for Pistons-Suns. They've got good teams.
If not, perhaps Pistons-Spurs.
ballinboy13
Ok, I still love my Lakers, but I think I've thrown in the towel on this series. We had the 3-1 lead last year, but we didn't have the experience to beat them, so I thought this year would be different because we were a year older, and had them against the wall last year. But I guess the Suns are just way to good for basicly the same team as last year. Injuries really hurt the Lakers this year, and I guess they won't be advancing to the second round Crying or Very sad

Now the Mavericks, best team in the West, just can't figure out how to beat the Warriors. I know you take this one game at a time, but I don't think the Mavs can beat the Warriors. The Mavs have one at home, which they might win, but I don't think they can beat GS in GS. The Mavs can't beat running teams with big guards. This team just happened to face the worst possible match-up for them in the first round. Could you imagine a Warrior-Suns WCF? That would be the highest scoring WCF in history, and that would be fun to watch.
fizzo
Lets face it the MAVS will have a hard time on bouncing back on this series and with the momentum on winning is on the Warriors and for me its hard to loose 2 straight and leading the regular season thats very draining.

The Miami Heat is really slowing down the pace. Wade started the season unhealthy with his USA team stint and he had his injuries plus shaq too. Then Payton is old. They were just outplayed by the young and much determined Chicago Bulls.
uros
Mavs are gonna win it. They wont let two games at home go away. All they have to think about right now is getting the home game and than figure out how to win it in San Francisco. After that the home court advantage is back. More interesting for me is the nets/raptors series. Let's hope raptors can bounce back. We'll see what happens tonight.

And for heat, I thing Wade should have had that surgery and not try to come back for the playoffs.

Uros
Vedder6
mavs arent going to win. they are down 3-1 and even if they win it will be hard for them to win on the road in game 6. Plus Dirk should NOT be mvp. They get knocked out by Nelly and the Warriors... Thats like the Suns getting kocked out by the Lakers in the 1st round!!!

The heat suck.. wade should have called it a season. payton, posey should go. shaq should retire...The heat just arent any good anymore with those players and wade injured.
Nerdlings
What about the East?

Round 2 Match up Pistons vs Bulls
Both teams have sweeped their Round 1 matchups. Who will win? I think Pistons have the edge but this is going to be a tight mu.
Geminh
My predictions for the NBA Finals would be Chicago from the East and Phoenix Suns from the West.

Regardless of how much I love my Raptors, I think it'll take them a few more years in order to gain experience at this level. At most I can see them reaching the Eastern Conference Finals and losing to the Bulls.
fizzo

A very interesting Prediction having the Bulls. Hey! almost all agree that the Bulls are a great young very competitive team they will play against Detroit and I assure you a great Round 2 a must see.. I wish its Bulls and the Pistons on the Eastern Conference Finals not on the 2nd Round.
Nerdlings
It's going to be Pistons vs Cavaliers for East. Mavs will lose.
fizzo
Yeah tomorrows Game will be a huge one for the Mavs lots of pressure on their team. Im just happy to Brandon ROY to be the ROY (Rookie of the Year)
TurkishGamer
Todays games (Houston - Utah and Dallas - GoldenState) is going to be very tough, but I think Dallas and Utah will win and bring both games to the 7th game. New Jersey Nets will most likely beat Toronto in game 6.

Go Jazz.
fizzo
Wow that warriors and dallas game was great... Mr MVP Dirk No-Win-zki shot terrible, and passed a lot, played horrible defense. While his boy Steve Nash was tearing up the Laker's and taking his team to the 2nd round. Just because you are the best player on the team with the best record doesn't mean you are the MVP. Dirk sometimes shines late in games, but he isn't a player that can carry his team on his back like a Jordan, Bird, Hell even a Kobe. When things get tough he jacks up shots or passes the ball, especially in the playoffs. So much for the dream season for the Mavericks. Dirk can have his MVP, i want to see Nash win it all. Nash the REAL MVP! Three peat.

mattyj
Im thinking Suns will win the West, and Pistons the east, and Pistons to take home the championship in 6 SmileSmileSmile
Nerdlings
Yup Dirk was horrible he had like 8 pts. Well that was one of the biggest NBA playoffs upset ever. The best record team loses to an 8 seed how sad.
Packfan104L4
Tried watching the NBA playoffs the other day. I fell asleep after about 3 minutes. SO boring

You probably watched the wrong game. Try watching Utah Jazz - Houston Rockets. I thought that this series was the most competitive series and the most exciting one.
fizzo
Tomorrow will be Detroit against the Bulls a tight match-up Ben and Rasheed with the Pistons will face, a very exciting series to watch.

Are their any other softwares like SOPCAST that is better.. I watched the Jazz Houston game on sopcast and it gives me a choppy stream..
Nerdlings
Yup it was definetly a great game, but the Pistons pounded the Bulls. Oh man it was not a pretty sight for Chicago Fans, but I'm a pistons fan! Very Happy
fizzo
Yeah.. my Pistons are in a good shape I hope this surge continues..
Kecos
It was sad that the Mavs lost.. Sad I can't believe Golden State won.
Nerdlings
the same website posted a thorough article on round 2 check it out I think it's pretty well written
http://www.usmansworld.com/?p=17
On the Mavericks losing, it's pretty sad that the best record team got eliminated in the first round. Oh well, I'm still rooting for Pistons!

i bet you are the only one sad to see Dirk and his whinging eliminated in the first round! Razz

LETS GO PISTONS, I GOT THE BROOM OUT FOR A SWEEP OF CHICAGO!!!
fizzo
Have you seen the Cut of Steve Nash that was really a bloody one.
even thou the Suns loss that was a very good game...
Nerdlings
Yea I saw that. That was so much blood, I thought it was just a bruise, but he just kept on bleeding and bleeding.
ballinboy13
It looks like it's going to be Spurs vs Pistons on the finals, and that is a match-up I really don't want to see. It's going to be another defensive struggle, just like when they played each other before, and will probably be the least watched finals. I don't think the Suns can overcome the Spurs in the Semi's, and I don't see Utah or Golden State being able to stop the Spurs. In the East, Detroit can only lose if they lost it themselves, I don't see anyone in the East being able to stop them. I sure hope the Spurs and Pistons don't make it, because the Finals is suppose to be fun to watch, not boring.

Yes, and unfortunetely I am one of the chicago fans, I'm really sad for it...but congrats to pistons fans... Very Happy
Nerdlings
wow the PIstons are still undefeated in the palyoffs
fizzo
The Warriors are whooping hot on Game3 at Golden State... 11 three pointers made on a quarter amazing...
Nerdlings
yup warriors owned
stjeff
I was rooting for the Dallas Mavericks. I'm a big fan of Dirk Nowitzki. Now that they are out of the playoff picture, I think Spurs will win the crown this year. I don't think any team from the east could match up with them. Although the Suns still remains a threat in the west.

Dirk for M.V.P.
Nerdlings
stjeff what about Pistons?
fizzo
Heres the MVP...

SOURCE

Read the article and judge him if he deserves to be the Most Valuable...?
Nerdlings
Steve Nash should be MVP
Nerdlings
darn Chicago avoided a sweep Mad

But thats the decision... Yeah Im also taking Steve Nash for this years MVP.
ballinboy13
Amare and Diaw out for tonights game against the Spurs, spells trouble for the Suns. Kurt Thomas is good, but Amare is a beast, and I think Duncan will have his way tonight, opening up shots for Manu and TP.
fizzo
Yeah.. what a loss to phoenix.. Stern made out a silly call out there.. its crucial for the Suns but Detroit is advancing to the East Finals... Wink

Pistons has plans with Lebron..
Quote:

For now, call it the LeBron Plan.

Years ago, the Detroit Pistons had a catchy name - "Jordan Rules'' - to contain an NBA superstar. Now another star awaits in LeBron James.

"We've got a name for it,'' Pistons coach Flip Saunders told The Associated Press on Saturday with a sly grin. "But I'm not going to talk about it now. Maybe later.''
Kelcey
I really just don't want to see the pistons or the spurs in the final... That's what it looks like it's gonna be. I really have no problem with them... I'd just like to see different teams up in there.
fizzo
For me no matter which teams enter the playoffs as long as I watch very good basketball games and very competitive I love it. I just watch how they play each games...
AI_17
I think that the Spurs will win the title. They are dominating the Jazz who looked pretty impressive earlier in the playoffs. I see the Pistons beating the Cavs. Then, the Spurs beat the Pistons in 7.
fizzo
hmm.. maybe but I have strong vibes that the Pistons would win I think this will be a great Finals if ever both Pistons and Spurs enters the Finals a re-match and I am pretty sure that Sheed Billups and RIP include the thirsty No Championship ring CWEBB to grab that ring and beat the Spurs.. hehe!
Drawingguy
I would rather see the spurs win over the jazz. I expect the spurs to win over the jazz. See, the jazz aren't that good- I want an interesting Final Series. The cavs are good, but simply because of Lebron James...without him, who are they? I don't think that he's good enough to carry a team on his back yet. Spurs- Pistons- my, we haven't seen that before, have we?
Alaskacameradude
Looks like it's gonna be Pistons-Spurs. Though you never know for sure, they are both up 2-0. I woudn't be surprised to see the Jazz and Cavs win a game or two each at home, but I don't know that I see either one winning on the road as they are both two relatively inexperienced teams in the playoffs. The Pistons/Spurs have both won Finals and seem to know how to win the close games..

Should be a very physical NBA finals if it is Pistons's/Spurs. I'd give the Spurs a slight edge in that matchup but I woudn't be surprised to see it go 7 games either. I kind of wish there would have been a GS/Pheonix match up as that would have been highly entertaining with scores like 140-136.
TurkishGamer
The Jazz haven't lost at home this whole post season. But, that doesn't mean they aren't going to lose 1 this series. The San Antonio Spurs are just too good of a team. Maybe if it was the Phoenix Suns against the Utah Jazz this series, the Jazz would have a good chance of winning.

Mehmet Okur, Andrei Kirilenko, and the Utah bench haven't been playing as well this series. If Mehmet Okur finds his shot and Kirilenko plays as hard as he's been playing, the Jazz can still have a chance to do something in this series.

My prediction is that the Utah Jazz will take this series to game 7, but lose the final match. The Spurs would then beat the Detroit to become championships.
fizzo
LeBron James and the Cavaliers won Game 3 against the Pistons James is the high man.. both conference has 2-1 standing card..
fizzo
Wow Deron Williams shows his A game despite the loss.. I assure you he will be one of the best point guards of the league. His outstanding he plays like a veteran who can take his team up..
fizzo

Amazing the Spurs started the game strong both on the offensive and defensive end they really put a stop on boozer and the wounded deron williams but its a tough playoffs for the utah jazz as no one expected them to be at the west finals...
jabronie25
man i wanted the Jazz to win! I also want the cavs to win
fizzo
jabronie25 wrote:

You got your wish the Cavs finish the series at 4 games to 2. Lebron was amazing plus the "Boobie Trap" Daniel Gibson who had his career high I know this kid is special for the finals against the spurs my bets are on the Cavs.
TurkishGamer
I also wanted the Jazz to go to the finals, but that is a dream now. Deron Williams has done great things for the Jazz. I hope he continues to improve and becomes one of theh best point guards out there.

As for the Finals, Clevelend Cavaliers vs. San Antonio Spurs. My gut says that clevelend is going to come with all their game. I predict that San Antonio will win in 6.

Yeah Deron will become much better in the next seasons... I think for me Detroit matches the lineup of the spurs from Center to Point guard position.. but will see if King James still rise up to the occasion. Flip Saunders must be released and have Detroit a new coach..
Geminh
As long as a new team is reaching the finals is good enough for me. I know that this series is going to be exciting. James is on a high right now, so you know he's going to be hot in the first few games. If history serves itself correctly, Tim Duncan will get his way and win the Championship. As cool as it would be to see Duncan cement himself as a dynasty, I'd rather see LeBron James start his. And also if Daniel Gibson can provide the Cavs with the same bench play, they'll be dangerous. Don't look for the Cavs to back down, and I believe that James is going to create history after this round! Cavs in 6!!!!
fizzo
Im excited for tomorrows Final game.. I want to see Lebron unleashed and put all his weapon on to this series to prove the haters wrong.
illegalhost
SPURS WINS GAME 1!!!!!! What can we say? SPURS SUPREMO!!!! Kiddo James couldnt do a thing about it..... Rejected ball by Duncan was HUGE!!! And it was the first one too!! Feel kinda sorry for him too man.. but hey, this is DA GAME!! What else can we expect from game 2?? I'M GAME FOR TH Twisted Evil IS!!!!! Spurs GO spurs!!!!!!! Twisted Evil Twisted Evil
fizzo
I wish Lebron and the Cavs bounce back on game 2 Lebron is nothing on Game 1 with those tremendous defense Z also needs to step up.. A much better Game2 is what I expect on Sunday
TurkishGamer
Spurs also won game 2. I don't think Clevelend can come back from down 2-0 to beat a team like San Antonio. I previously said Spurs in 6, but now this series just might be over in game 5.
agustin
the san antonio spurs will defenitely win 4-1! I gotta say this is a great team-- cause im from Argentina I gotta say that mANu Ginobili is the best... he rips!
mattchun
Today it the game day of Game 3 of NBA finals.

Go! Cavs!
ballinboy13
That was a horrible no-call by the ref. He was in the perfect spot to call that foul on Bruce Bowen, and he let it go. It was also in the act of shooting, so it should've been three shots, but for some reason LeBron doesn't seem to get any calls. It's tough to lose a game like that, but I didn't think Cleveland had a chance in this series anyway. I hope they can win one game, but the Spurs are just too tough, and they'll probably sweep
fizzo
Yeah.. I agree.. Lebron and his troops needs to get a little worried on what is happening right now.. they need to win tomorrow
Alaskacameradude
Wow, the spurs are really puttin it to the Cavs. I thought the Cavs would bounce back and win one or two games at home, but it looks like maybe they won't. I'd give them even odds of winning game 4 at home but the spurs look like they will win this series in 4 or 5 games.

Lebron was making the right pass all game in game 3 but no one could hit a wide open shot. The cavs were like 3-19 on three point shots, and most of those shots were wide open looks that Lebron created by making a pass out of a double team, and they just couldn't knock down the shots. If they would have been able too, it may have been a different game. O well, at least there is the FIBA basketball 'tournament of the america's' this summer to watch. I just wish that Argentina would have EVERYONE of their players, as I think the USA vs. Argentina game would be great if Argentina had all their starters....they have quite a few NBA players on that Argentina team....the ones I can think of off the top of my head are:
Ginobili (Spurs)
Delfino (Pistons)
Nocioni (Bulls)
Oberto (Spurs)
Herrman (Bobcats)
There may be even more. That's one good national team there!
ballinboy13
Argentina has a lot of NBA Players, and Congratulations to the Spurs. I didn't thin it would be a sweep, I figured the Cavs would steal one game, but it was a pretty boring series. I'm kind of glad it's over because now my Lakers can try to make their team better by adding Jermaine O'Neal to team up with Kobe Bryant, and finally beat the Suns next year
Geminh
Well I can safely say now that the Spurs have created themselves a Dynasty. I know that they haven't won like the Lakers did when they made the Threepeat, but they do have consistency. 4 Championships in 9 years is one impressive feat. And to have Duncan lead them to all 4 Championships will definitely cement his career as one of the best power forwards in NBA history.
Alaskacameradude
Yes, an impressive run by the Spurs the last few years. They have quite the team. Parker, Duncan, Ginobili, and then a good cast of role players like Horry, Oberto, Finley, Barry, etc... Now I'm gonna have to be content watching FIBI international basketball this summer, that should have some interesting matchups and games.
Kelcey
Spurs are too good. I was hoping Lebron would get his first Sad

Jermaine with Bryant? That's huge. I believe LA will be contenders once again for the crown with this development.
ballinboy13
I would love to get O'Neal in a Lakers jersey, problem is, the Lakers management is in love with Bynum, and don't want to trade him. Another problem is they want both Odom and Bynum, and that's a lot for Jermaine who's been injury prone as of late.

Quote:
Indiana Pacers forward Jermaine O'Neal isn't demanding a trade to the Los Angeles Lakers, but he's open to the idea.

While O'Neal has been the subject of trade talk since the Pacers missed the playoffs for the first time in 10 years, the new discussion was stirred up Monday when SI.com quoted O'Neal as saying he would "welcome a trade to the Lakers" and mentioned the New Jersey Nets as another possible destination.
O'Neal, a six-time All-Star, downplayed the trade talk in an interview with The Associated Press.

"I don't think me saying I'd like to go with those teams is me saying I want to be traded," he said.

O'Neal said he recognized that the Pacers are rebuilding with young players and he might not be part of future plans.

"If they want to move in a different direction, I wouldn't be disgruntled about it," he said. "If I am traded, it would be seven great years I had with this team. And if I'm going to be here, I'd welcome it with open arms."

there are a lot of teams looking to grab JO but he didnt say he wants to get out of the pacers.. and go to LA..
