Actually, the first one is OK-ish, but the second one is even more off. In the first one, it would seem that you merely provided a Google machine translation that doesn't make sense. in the English sentence, it is implied that the mother is "the best person", but machine translations cannot pickup on that, so it made it into an incomplete comparative sentence meaning "Mom, you are the best one...". The difference is subtle, but of importance. And in the second one, you said "you are the best mother", again, that's not exactly what that phrase means, it is just saying that the mother is "the best (person)" not "as compared to other mothers."
So the correct translation would be:
I'm sorry if I was a bit harsh there, but I'm one of those people who are really for strict faithful translation if possible.

I was not saying you can't say it. I guess the "doesn't make sense" bit was what made you think that. But no, I was just saying that's not the correct translation to the sentence in this case so it doesn't make sense to translate it that way. People can say "Mom, you are the best mother" or "Mom, you suck" too, but that doesn't mean it means the same as "Mom, you are the best". Sure there is more than one way to say something, but that doesn't mean there's more than one way to translate something if you are aiming for accurate translation.
By the way, try to get your Pinyin straight first before telling others what's right and what's not. The correct spelling of what you wanted to say is: "Ma, ni shi zui hao de"; not "Ma, ni si zui hao dei."

Yes,the correct Pinyin spelling is "Ma,ni shi zui hao de",most Chinese spoker can not spell it correctly,they often spell "shi" as "si" but "zui" as "zhui".In swedish
