Vista notebook shutdown..

benjad
Ok, odd question here, wonder if anyone else has experienced this....

In windows vista, when I click on shutdown and close the laptop, the computer suspends while in the middle of shutdown! So, when you open the case the next day, you are greeted by the shutting down screen. This did not happen in XP?

Anyone else notice this??? any solutions?

I mean, suspend should be disabled while shutdown is in progress... makes sense? right????

Have you tried waiting before closing your laptop screen?

Rolling Eyes well, yes, you have to...

but in XP, suspend would not occur while shutdown was in progress... now for some reason, suspend works in the middle of shutdown... which is kind of ridiculous when you think about it. What changed in vista.. and why?

I don't have any experience with Vista, but I had this problem in XP. It's fairly simple to fix - just go to the power profile settings and change the settings as to what happens when you close your laptop screen. The default is "Stand By" - change this to "do nothing" and it'll be fixed.
